I know Ted never said anything to anybody, but was it ever revealed to anyone that Ted was the first to know about Brian's cancer?

Update: Evidently it was never revealed that Ted was the first to know about Brian's cancer. Brian did tell Deb that only Justin, Michael and Ted knew, but he didn't tell her that he told Ted before anyone else found out. So it looks like the only people Brian actually told about his cancer were Ted and Debbie; Justin, of course, found out from the voice message and he told Michael thinking Brian would have told his best friend.

Thanks for the help!

I was certain I had this on my computer but now I can't find it. I remember it was a prop that was never used or maybe the scene was cut. Might have been intended to use in the scene where Justin gives the cop his license. I've checked all the tags I can think of re: pics, promos, etc. but haven't found it. Does anyone know where I can find it?

ETA: FOUND! Thanks to toto_too514 for the quick response with a link to the image! Link is in the comments.

I was watching Halt and Catch Fire and noticed this painting qafpainting.jpg

Am I wrong in thinking this is in Brian's office in Season 3 episode 7-8?

Can someone point me to a screen cap with the painting from QAF?

ETA: Though not the same painting - a very similar painting can be seen in Brian's office in Vanguard.

Someone noted:
"The painting in Brian's office is a Robert Motherwell knock-off of some sort."

I looked up Robert Motherwell, it seems both are some variant knock-off of Robert Motherwell's Elegy to the Spanish Republic - which is a series.

I'm looking for a picture of the first cake that was made for the episode which showed the actual date they had planned to use for Brian's 30th birthday. I thought I had saved it to my computer, but no such luck. I checked the tags but didn't find it.

Thanks for any help!

ETA: Link to one picture in the comments, thanks to Predec. However, still looking for the picture with the full date.

ETA2: Another link to a larger picture in the comments thanks to Kinwad.

ETA3: Well, I had an 'aha' moment a little while ago and did some searching on my harddrive and discovered the date wasn't actually in a picture of the cake... it was in an early script. They had written Brian's date of birth to be May 21, 1971. So I would like to give a great BIG THANK YOU to Predec and Kinwad for all their help and the great pics!

This is driving me crazy, mostly because I should know the answer, but who is Vic dressed as at Michael and David's fundraiser for Senator Baxter? I need it for one of the fics I'm working on.

ETA: Answer found very quickly by bluecat731: Vic is dressed as gay icon Quentin Crisp.

I was scrolling through the pics over on qafcaps.com and found something interesting. Season 1 episode 10 is the one where Justin is showing Daphne around the loft. Brian opens the partition between the bedroom and living area and stands there naked while griping at Justin for all the noise he's making.

There have been a lot of fics written where Justin didn't know that Brian bought his sketch. But in image #99 in the background behind Brian is the sketch that Justin made of Brian lying naked in bed. It's propped up on the table next to the bed with a glass in front of it.

So is it canon or fandom that Justin doesn't know Brian purchased the sketch. At Babylon following the fundraiser, Daphne mentions that someone bought one of Justin's sketches. No mention is made of who purchased it. That's the only time I can remember the purchase being mentioned in the show. So... how could Justin not know Brian bought it when the sketch is in Brian's bedroom?

ETA: Seems to be a bit of both: canon that Justin knew Brian had bought the sketch since it was on display (at least in 1 episode) in the loft while Justin is living there, and fandom that Justin doesn't know Brian bought the sketch because it's never mentioned in the series after episode 6.

hi...i'm a newbie, so apologies upfront for any mistakes in this post.

i've been religiously reading this community but have never posted or requested anything - the requests made the members of this community are enough to fill my time! but i'm itching to find out a particular clip form the series. i've seen it in many fanvids, gifs, profile pic etc but i can't pinpoint form which episode its from. its that 3rd gif on aly's 4shared, the one where brian is topless, and justin is wearing a ribbed-t (i think) - under the reunification gif. i've been going through the season 3 episodes (because i'm assuming - though its wrong to assume - its from season 3 based on justin's hair).

please help anybody, and help put my mind at ease.

thanks!

* i dont even know what to put in the tag

edited - its from season 3, episode 11 (which i'm sure everyone but me knows!)

I know, I know, trying to establish a QaF timeline is like trying to push a rope uphill. I don't need a definitive answer, but a general consensus would be awesome. What months would Brian and Justin's birthdays be in? We know Brian's was at the time of Justin's prom. Justin and Ben shared a birthday, but when? I have my thoughts but don't want to muddy the water with them. TIA!

UPDATE: Thanks for the perspectives! General consensus for Brian is May. May, 1971 according to a screen cap of his deathday cake from his 30th. Specifically the 21st, according to a report from an original script. Justin is less clear, but either December, 1982 or March, 1983.

I have read a few fics by different writers who have the gang, mostly Brian, saying 'Thank the gods.' It started me wondering if that was canon for Brian to refer to multiple gods. I know it's not canon for Ted because of the speech he gave Emmett at the Seen the Light meeting (one of my favorite scenes) and I'm certain it's not canon for Michael or Emmett either. So, did I miss something said by Brian?

ETA: Seems to be non-canon. Thanks for all the help. You guys are the best! :)

Hi everyone,

I am writing a new story that I am very proud of right now, none is posted yet lol

Anyway,in season three when Justin goes back to the loft and Brian is watching a Marlon Brando movie, what's the name of that movie, and possibly the character Brando is playing too. This is something I need for my story.

Anyone know?

Thanks so very much in advance ~ Yvonne xx

Edited: Thank you [livejournal.com profile] mander3_swish the movie is called 'One-Eyed Jacks' and Brando's character is 'Rio'

(Confession alert!) I'm having trouble finding the "right" post-series fic. I've started several that seemed quite promising at first but then later went off the reservation character-wise. It's a bummer to start a multi-chaptered fic only to have it wander off into the tangled wilderness of OoC land. I'm not particularly a fan of fluff (especially Fluffy!Brian) or nothing but sex-sex-sex 24/7. I'm looking for something gritty and real and angsty, and the longer, the better. I want something that is going to totally engross me and satisfy my bottomless need for The Feels.
tissues
Thanks ahead of time!

ETA: Wow! Thank you all for the response! Some great suggestions in the comments!

I'm wondering if there are any fics that focus on/make mention of the fact that Justin was bashed on/close to Brian's birthday.  (I was never certain on the exact timing...was that all supposed to take place in the same day, or are we supposed to assume it's the next day?)

Anyway, I'd really love to read something where Brian is reluctant to celebrate his birthday not just because he hates getting older and thinks birthdays are bullshit, but where he's also reminded of the bashing due to the proximity of the events.  I checked under the bashing tag, and couldn't find any kind of birthday tags.

On the show, we know about Michael's family, Brian's family, Justin's family, Ted's mother, Hunter's mother, heard stories about Emmett's family, but we never really heard anything about Ben's family, unless I'm forgetting. Are there any stories written that go into Ben's family at all, even if it's very minimal?

ETA: Some found. Links in comments

Okay, I know that this is silly but can anyone think of any fics where the infamous avocado, tuna, peanut butter and tabasco sandwich from hell is featured? Or maybe a fic where Brian is caught eating some other weird combination of food?

If you don't know what sandwich I'm talking about please refer to Fuck Yeah QAF's sandwich play by play, which is possibly my favorite blog post of all time.

Thanks!

It might be silly question. In most stories I've read that mention food, they always said Brian's fave food are Thai while Justin Italian. Not all stories but most I found.
I'm just curious if they ever mention that in the tv series? I only remember they eat chinese food (in fortune cookies scene). I guess Italian because of Debbie? They like Debbie's food.

Well I just wanna ask that. I hope it's okay because this still relate to QAF right?? :)

A lot of answer on comments. Wow I didn't notice those things in the series. ^o^
[identity profile] burnt-orchid93.livejournal.com

I have a question, even though I don't know if it's okay to ask here. Please ask me to delete it if it's too out of topic.
In each fic about the post-bashing I've read that Brian stays in the hospital for 3 days, waiting to know if Justin will make it. Now, I wonder if this information came from the show, because I never heard it, but maybe it's because I'm Italian and I watched it in my language and it was dubbed differently so they never said it. If they actually say it, can you tell me when exactly?

Hope you understood everything I wrote. If not, well, sorry for being ignorant/italian XD

1. I was reccing some fiction to my friend Cam, one of the story's was written by Morpheus, Dark Roots. Well, Cam loved that and went to read more fics and then she found the pre-season 3 stories here by Morpheus:
http://www.mags-nificent.com/MSW/MorF/S2a.htm

Because I needed to ask something here anyway I figured I'd ask her ? first. I can't recall because its been a LOOOONG time since I read them. Are these all parts in one series? If not, which ones are and which ones are standalone stories?

Edit: #1 Found, thank you [livejournal.com profile] kmboatright for answering the question. They are all a series beginning with Shattered.

2. It isn't my imagination or is it? Marvin Deekins is the incumbent Mayor, meaning he was Mayor and Jim Stockwell was running to de-seat him, correct? I have this feeling that the show has proof of this in an episode and though I've watched 309-314 through and through over the last couple of weeks, I still am not getting it but I could be missing it because I get distracted with all the other wonderful things I'm constantly memorizing while watching my favorite QAF episodes. Help?

Edit: #2 Found, thank you to [livejournal.com profile] besamebj for your help.
Mayor Deekins was Councilmen Deekins before the election. So the current Mayor was not running in the race.

And on that note, I found out that since 1934 all of the mayors have been democrat, with the exception of 2, one who was nominated by both parties and another who claimed Independent/Democrat. I guess I just find it odd that such a democratic city would've so drastically changed to the lengths it did for Stockwell. Yes, yes, I realize that it is not real, but stil.... *sigh*

I looked through the tags and couldn't find this or anywhere on the net. But does anyone know what Tucker's first name is? I'm writing a story with him and Jen giving birth to Justin.

If there is no first name would any of you like to give me a name. That would be wonderful.

Thanks.

Edit: Tucker was his first name. Thanks to everyone.

Writing something for Credence, this thought occurred to me. As I'm sure most anyone knows, there are quite a few things that were said or stated in QAF fandom / showtime message boards by fans that inadvertently made it onto the show in one way or another.

Just two of my favorites that I recall are 'Zen Ben' and 'Brian knocked up Sunshine'.

So if anyone can recall, 'the ugly naked guy painting', was this an actual fandom thing before Justin says it when the painting is being taken away, or was this on the show before?

EDIT: FOUND ANSWER. Okay I was confusing myself by thinking too much about it. Justin does not say exactly 'ugly', and you'd think me watching it 3 times before asking would've alleviated this question. But then I began wondering if he said it as 'ugly' elsewhere or if it was purely fanon. It is only purely fanon. Justin does NOT say 'ugly'.

Thank you!
