(Confession alert!) I'm having trouble finding the "right" post-series fic. I've started several that seemed quite promising at first but then later went off the reservation character-wise. It's a bummer to start a multi-chaptered fic only to have it wander off into the tangled wilderness of OoC land. I'm not particularly a fan of fluff (especially Fluffy!Brian) or nothing but sex-sex-sex 24/7. I'm looking for something gritty and real and angsty, and the longer, the better. I want something that is going to totally engross me and satisfy my bottomless need for The Feels.

Thanks ahead of time!

I would suggest

Beyonf the Yellow Brick Road http://bjfic.livejournal.com/tag/plumsuede%20-%20beyond%20the%20yellow%20brick%20road (Just go back to find the first chap)
Justin has lived in New Yourk for 6 years before coming back to the Pitts. Pretty angsty even if they are back together, loads of New characters. There's also a Prequel: "Framed" http://bjfic.livejournal.com/132191.html
and a prologue to the prequel "Embark" http://bjfic.livejournal.com/369081.html#cutid1

Right now I can't think of anything else but it's 1.20 a.m. here so must be the sleepiness... I'll see if I can think of something tomorrow.

I love BYBR but keep in mind that a portion of the story takes place in "heaven". Either way it is a wonderful read. Be sure to read the prologue and prequel"Framed" and "Embark" they are well worth the time investment. Combine those with Xie's Only Time and you have a great few days of reading.

Randall as one of my favorite Post 513 fics. It wrapped up the show well for me. Silence and Tears (http://rand-alt.livejournal.com/?skip=20). It's complete. There were a lot of great writers that came at the end of the series like [livejournal.com profile] suzvoy. Trying to think of some specific fics. I'll be back if I can think of any.

For me, the post 513 fic that resonates as the truest to the show and the most in character B/J is xie_xie_xie's Only Time.
She just nails the characters, and her writing is flawless.

However, I've always found 5th season to be a bit random. It seems to me that the show's writers had trouble keeping B/J in character!!!

If you feel at all that way, you might want to read Wren's rewrite of season 5, and her WIP season 6 and 7 (She is not the fastest updater, but the fic is worth the wait, unless you are a fan of Mikey and/or the girls, because they are not presented in a very good light.)

I really like Severina's "Gold and Silver Shines." I'm not sure it's angsty enough to meet your requirements, but BJ are in character, it's very long, very well written, and truly enjoyable.

I didn't see you say you've read Myrna's longer series, "If You Needed Me" and "Growing Up Kinney." In my opinion, Myrna's stories are the pinnacle of QAF fanfic, angsty, moving, funny and just amazing.

I don't have a link, but anyone here can provide it!

Totally agreed with Myrna's fics :)

If you need me can be found here: http://qaf-fic.com/atp/viewuser.php?uid=308 (you must read it in the right order: If you need me - I Would Come To You - I'd swim the seas - For To Ease Your Pain)

Growing up Kinney (or Blind! Justin) can be found here: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=myrna1_2_3

And I totally recommend a fic from Mrs. Morpheus herself When it sizzles. http://www.mags-nificent.com/MSW/MorF/S5.htm the angst is so good it hurts

I'm not sure if it's quite as crazy angsty as you're looking for, but since I was going to rec it to you anyway (part of my top ten), I have to shout-out Choices by [livejournal.com profile] england13. Probably my favorite, most believable alternate S5/could-have-been S6 :)

I see someone rec'd [livejournal.com profile] vamphile;'s Keeping series. There's more angst than you can shake a stick at. It's also funny as hell, has lots of sex, and it's LONG. The first part, Brother's Keeper, starts with the premise of Justin having a long-lost brother. Before you go 'no way', think about this. Craig cheating on Jenniefer is canon. It's entirely possible that he fathered a child out of wedlock. Justin finds out when the kid (16) shows up at his door in NYC. And he's gay.

Trust me, it gets even better after that opening scene.

There are 5 parts; if you go to her LJ (all her fic is unlocked), she has the series in order.

And I can't leave without rec'ing [livejournal.com profile] plumsuede's Beyond The Yellow Brick Road. It does veer off in the middle for a bit, but there's a reason for it. think of it as outside perspective. Also, her original characters are frigging hysterical. It's post-513 by 6 years. She does take you back to tell you what happened during that time, and it's interesting to see how, even when they weren't together, their lives overlapped. She's not done with the fic yet, she says there's an epilogue to come. But where it ends right now is fine, no cliffhangers to speak of. And the angst is...jfc.

One more, and I'm done. Check out allie_quixotic's How We Got Where We're Going (http://www.mediafire.com/?8sz5vz2dx5p0z). It's post-513 by like...12 years or something. And it's very Gus-centric. Basically, Brian and Justin live in NYC, Gus comes to live with them post-graduation. The angst is mostly on Gus's part, but what it does to Brian and Justin is...please read this. Trust me. It will give you chills, it's so good. She deleted her LJ, but the link will take you to the mediafire file where you can download the fic.

I enjoyed the story of Justin's half-brother, but just to be nit-picky, where in canon was it said or implied that Craig cheated on Jennifer? I can't remember any reference to that in the show...?

Hi there! I'd like to recommend "Timeless" by Cynical21. http://www.midnightwhispers.ca/viewstory.php?sid=1081&ageconsent=ok&warning=3 (I'm sorry, I'm really bad with the html thing and making pretty links).

This is most certainly the longest, in character, well-written Brian/Justin I've ever read. It is post-series. I finished reading it recently and I have to say that I'm amazed. It's all the things I wanted in a fic - long, good plot, in character, basically the same as you. You should definitely read it.

Also - angst. There's plenty of it.

Hmmm, I would have to say (just to give the requester a different opinion) that I did not consider this to be IC for Brian at all. In fact, it took me days to get over being pissed about how the story progressed. I don't want to come across as a flamer (since I can't write for shit), but it seemed, to me, like the author was out to antagonize the reader. I just kept feeling myself getting more & more pissed the longer I read it.

I know! I could always have just stopped reading it, but I rarely do that once I start a story & it was VERY well written. I just didn't care for the way the author portrayed Brian (in particular), but hey...that's just my opinion. Like I said, I just wanted to offer another view point to the requester so please don't take my disagreement personally :)

As one of those social outcasts who tend to throw up over cute kid scenarios and romantic BS, and since 'fluffy' Brian gives me indigestion, I'll plug Subject to Change by soundczech. It's not really post series, but takes a different course after Brian moved to New York in season One. It's not exactly long, either, but it's a great read.
