(Confession alert!) I'm having trouble finding the "right" post-series fic. I've started several that seemed quite promising at first but then later went off the reservation character-wise. It's a bummer to start a multi-chaptered fic only to have it wander off into the tangled wilderness of OoC land. I'm not particularly a fan of fluff (especially Fluffy!Brian) or nothing but sex-sex-sex 24/7. I'm looking for something gritty and real and angsty, and the longer, the better. I want something that is going to totally engross me and satisfy my bottomless need for The Feels.

Thanks ahead of time!
ETA: Wow! Thank you all for the response! Some great suggestions in the comments!

Justin has lived in New Yourk for 6 years before coming back to the Pitts. Pretty angsty even if they are back together, loads of New characters. There's also a Prequel: "Framed" http://bjfic.livejournal.com/132191.html
and a prologue to the prequel "Embark" http://bjfic.livejournal.com/369081.html#cutid1
Right now I can't think of anything else but it's 1.20 a.m. here so must be the sleepiness... I'll see if I can think of something tomorrow.

She just nails the characters, and her writing is flawless.
However, I've always found 5th season to be a bit random. It seems to me that the show's writers had trouble keeping B/J in character!!!
If you feel at all that way, you might want to read Wren's rewrite of season 5, and her WIP season 6 and 7 (She is not the fastest updater, but the fic is worth the wait, unless you are a fan of Mikey and/or the girls, because they are not presented in a very good light.)

There are 5 parts; if you go to her LJ (all her fic is unlocked), she has the series in order.
And I can't leave without rec'ing
One more, and I'm done. Check out allie_quixotic's How We Got Where We're Going (http://www.mediafire.com/?8sz5vz2dx5p0z). It's post-513 by like...12 years or something. And it's very Gus-centric. Basically, Brian and Justin live in NYC, Gus comes to live with them post-graduation. The angst is mostly on Gus's part, but what it does to Brian and Justin is...please read this. Trust me. It will give you chills, it's so good. She deleted her LJ, but the link will take you to the mediafire file where you can download the fic.

Date: 2013-01-29 08:45 am (UTC)This is most certainly the longest, in character, well-written Brian/Justin I've ever read. It is post-series. I finished reading it recently and I have to say that I'm amazed. It's all the things I wanted in a fic - long, good plot, in character, basically the same as you. You should definitely read it.
Also - angst. There's plenty of it.

Date: 2013-01-29 11:48 pm (UTC)I know! I could always have just stopped reading it, but I rarely do that once I start a story & it was VERY well written. I just didn't care for the way the author portrayed Brian (in particular), but hey...that's just my opinion. Like I said, I just wanted to offer another view point to the requester so please don't take my disagreement personally :)

Date: 2013-01-30 03:53 am (UTC)Having said that, I take absolutely nothing away from Cyn as a writer. She is truly phenomenal in that respect and she obviously put a great deal of time & herself into that epic. I just took exception to how the story developed. But, as the author, that was certainly her prerogative to tell it how she wanted to. God knows if I could string a story together I'd have quite a bit to say, but alas, I'm just an accountant. What do I know (LOL!) :)
