One of my favourites is allie_quixotic's work mentioned above, as well as her followup, even though it is an incomplete work.

You HAVE absolutely to read "That happy feeling" by Rizabeu, for me is the best complete and perfect alternative season five ever written, I've read it maybe ten times and every time this amazing ff has leave me breathless and moved.

I'm surprised more people didn't recommend xie. She's one of the few authors I can read who wrote post-S5 fiction that I actually enjoyed, and in fact loved. Perfect, just perfect. And a good, long, ongoing read.

I highly recommend this one whether or not you are into AU. It is one of my all time favorites!
