I've written anti-Mikey a few times I think.... and I've had people wonder why in some cases something wasn't anti Mikey and though I can understand the need at times or the appeal, its sort of overdone unless someone does it in a really creative way. But this is also coming from a girl that up until the last year or so of B/J fic world, has read nearly every last thing.

You know, I get that there are people that don't like certain characters. It's just really WEIRD to me that in this fandom it's so OPEN and ACCEPTED. It even seems like people assume that everyone hates Michael. Really weird. I've just never been in a fandom where a character was consistently accepted as being written out of character just for the sake of hating them, and everyone just didn't mind it. >_>;

Mpreg on the other hand, is in all fandoms, and people like it or they don't. (I don't, but whatever.) So I guess it's weird to me that people were more offended by a weird type of fic than character bashing.

You're right. It is odd how people assume we all hate him. Now, I will admit that I have issues with cowpie in direct reflection to Mikey's 'happy ending' and Brian's... 'happy back to the beginning' and I do hate that Micheal's bullshit was rarely called out and that there were issues left in the dust I feel he should have had to overcome or be brought to light to get some of that 'happiness and growth' that somehow deceivingly seemed to be so different than Brian's in the end. And in taking in his character issues in my Season six there isn't hate, just more of taking his character through those never dealt with issues, exposing them, and then working through them to a real conclusion.

Anyway, my point... why when you could write AU and have any villan you wanted would you always choose Mikey?

Not that I haven't read some good anti-mikey stories, but yeah it's odd that it's accepted.

I noticed that trying to discuss touchy subjects could be hard around here :D Things like Mikey hate are usually griped about in private posts, in public they're just ignored because, duh, you won't make anyone like Mikey and they might end up, like, creating some super secret community to pass anti-Michael fics under the table, and then - how will you know which fics to avoid? :D

But I don't know, in final fantasy fandom, for one, there's pretty much character bashing - especially of the female ones by girls writing yaoi slash :D It's frowned upon too, by the more grown-up authors, but well, what can you do about it except ignore it?

And I am not offended by mpreg, argh. I really don't lose sleep about it, I just... don't read it and was curious why others do :D

Yes, much of my blame lies within the writers and then for me to bring Micheal into the man I know he is inside is to make him atone for his past mistakes. That's my thing. Just the same way other characters did and should. That was my biggest beef with Cowpies crap. But then, they had so many writers writing each sentence I'm sure it was practically like a roundrobin in fanfic.

Slash really just means pairing characters of the same gender. Yaoi is male / male porn from Japan. (Although it's used loosely in the USA just to mean male / male stuff of all kinds, not just porn.)

yaoi is a whole humongous genre of manga (japanese comics and graphic novels) and anime (japanese animations) about gay love and gay sex, written almost exclusively by women for women. There are, like, millions of titles in this genre. It's a whole huge industry.

slash is, you know, when you pick two characters from a book/comic/film/etc, and pair them together. That is, given that they weren't originally together. Then you write porn about them. It's usually gay porn.

yaoi slash is, I think, when you pair up male characters from japanese comics, animations or games. But yaoi is sometimes used by anime fans as general term for homosexual content (esp. fanfic), even though technically it's not yaoi, 'cause yaoi is graphic. If that makes sense, lol. But it's quite possible that I invented the term 'yaoi slash' just now.

It actually was invented in the Trekkie fandom WAY back in the day. It stands for the / that you put between characters names when you're pairing them. It was invented by Kirk/Spock fans. XD
