Exceptional B/J stories

I'm new to this fandom and would like some people to point the way to some exceptional fics with Brian and Justin as centrals in the following areas. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love personal top lists of fics. What I'm looking for is great plot, sex, characterization. All around top-notch writing.

Could people suggest one fic that's a stand alone and one longer work that sticks close to original characters?

Next would be AU.

I'd suggest xie_xie_xie's work. Her most famous series, Only Time, is set after the show ends, so you might not want to read yet if you haven't finished the entire show.

Pulse Point is also an extremely good AU :)

There is so much out there that sometimes it seems hard to wade through it all.

I like to recommend wren_kt7oz. All of her stuff is great but I'd recommend Experiment which veers off at the end of Season 3. Brian decides to try monogomy. http://wren-kt7oz.livejournal.com/60938.html

allie_quixotic is an author that I wish was still writing in this fandom. Every time I read one of her stories I always end up describing it as beautiful (even as tears run down my face!) It's really really really really really really really really good. Did I say it's REALLY good already?

At the same time I'm reading Rizabeau's stuff (http://chiaki-chie.weebly.com/rizabeau.html) and even though there are a few 'baby's from Brian it's still good.

I'm totally in love with the Karma-universe (oooww, can't remember the author, she is SO good!) and especially the story where Gus meet Aedan. I really really really love that storyline. The passion and confusion described is so real, I've read it over and over again.

Xie's work of course, bdeviled's work, the Kondo-series bij Rosyato and InnerJustin, Chering and Fansee ... pffff, there is SO much out there that is really good!

I'm almost done reading the truely truely good stuff (took me 4 months ;-) ) and now I'm finding myself reading and plowing through loads and loads of crappy stories desperately looking for 'the one true gem I've seem to have missed so far'. :-)

Hey, nice to see you here too. I'm putting this whole post on my memories so that I can keep reading.

On my writing in this fandom, that's partly why I'm reading so much-- because I want to read what's out there and how writer approach their characterizations. I'm seeing a lot of first person POV switching here, which is unusual. I've already read a couple mentioned here, but most I haven't. Thanks for another great rec.

Oh... No one has mentioned plumsuede's fics. They are the absolute best in my opinion. Embark, Framed and Beyond the Yellow Brick Road.
Embark (http://community.livejournal.com/bjfic/369081.html#cutid1) is the prequel to Framed (http://community.livejournal.com/bjfic/132191.html) which is in itself is a sequel to Beyond the Yellow Brick Road (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=plumsuede&keyword=Beyond+the+Yellow+Brick+Road&filter=all). BTYBR it's a WIP though.

I'm going to second the rec of "The Things I Cannot Change" by Suzvoy. It's S1 AU so pretty early on but the characterization is perfect.

Another Suzvoy fic is "Inescapable" a S5 AU where brian and justin meet for the first time at the babylon bombing. I recently re-read both fics (for I think the 9th time).

From those mentioned above, I really love these: Allie_quixotic's "After the Smoke Clears," Xie's "Only Time" series, plumsuede's "Framed" (I don't like beyond the yellow brick road as much).

One that hasn't been mentioned yet is "Choices" by England13, a 510-AU story that has on-spot characterizations.
