New fan here *waves*

Hi there.

I recently discovered QAF while reading a J2 fic that mentioned it in passing and curiosity led me to looking it up and now I simply love the show, especially B/J. I would like some "must read" recs please.

Any fics.....canon, AU, during the different seasons, post series, multi-chaptered, stand alones, Series.......anything that you consider a must read as long as the main pairing is B/J and with a happy B/J ending (unless the fic is so awesome even without a happy ending)

I would prefer (but it's not a must) no Brian or Justin romantic pairing with any of the other main characters on the show i.e Ben, Michael, Ted, Emmett, but other then that, any other character pairing goes.

I would prefer more plot to porn, not really looking for straight out pwp fics.

Does anyone know where I can download full episodes of QAF. Torrents seem to freeze my pc everytime I try :( (Mod's, if this bit is not allowed, please delete)

Thanks in advance.

ETA: Plenty recs found in comments. Thank you to everyone who posted :)

Hi there, newbie!

I find it rather difficult to rec stories without any search specifications, but I was thinking that you might wanna check out the memories (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=getithere) of this community for a start.
There's some great things listed and already sorted by categories.

Happy reading!

[livejournal.com profile] xie_xie_xie's "Only Time" series is phenomenal. It picks up where the show leaves off and is brilliantly characterized and wonderfully written. It is what happens after the last episode ends, in my eyes. All of Xie's fiction is fabulous actually. Her fic index is here (http://xie-xie-xie.insanejournal.com/51270.html) on InsaneJournal. She posts all of her fiction to LJ as well as IJ.

I also love [livejournal.com profile] severina2001's fics, all of [livejournal.com profile] suzvoy's QAF fics, and [livejournal.com profile] vamphile's fics. A couple of other great authors who have left the fandom but kept their fic available on their own websites are Rhiannonhero (http://www.rhiannonhero.net/rhi/QaFMain.htm) and Ethan (http://www.xhaleslowly.com/qaf/fanfic.html) (aka xhaleslowly).

There are too many fantastic writers in the QAF fandom to even come close to naming them all. The memories here are a good place browse around like [livejournal.com profile] sakesushimaki said and should help you figure out the kinds of fics you like.

Also, I'll recommend a community on IJ called qaf_retread (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/qaf_retread). It started out here on LJ and you can still find the old posts with recs and links at [livejournal.com profile] qaf_retread. The new rec posts are all posted on the IJ community though.

The QAF fandom has great writers and communities on both LJ and IJ (and many, many of us members are active both places). So if you don't have an IJ yet, I'd recommend creating one there as well. But you can read and comment over there even without an IJ account if you want because most communities and individual journals aren't locked.

Welcome to the fandom!

Hi qafanfic! Can I ask whether we're ever to see anything more of your Without a Trace story? I really enjoyed what I read and would love to read more.

[identity profile] altsunthinkable.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. It will be completed. Someday. I've been thinking about it a lot lately and I really never meant to abandon it halfway finished but... life happens, I guess. I realize it's been most of a year but I have been very busy with school. I still am but I really do want to write the rest of it. I need to find the way to make the time.

I'm happy to hear there's still someone interested after all this time!

[identity profile] teatotaller.livejournal.com 2008-10-04 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Life certainly does happen and as you are the one doing all the hard work of writing no one can hold it against you. But don't think that no one's interested anymore! I'm sure I'm not alone.

[identity profile] lit-writergirl.livejournal.com 2008-10-05 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I just wanted to add that I'm still interested also. I'll definitely be here when you do finish it. :-)

Add me as one of the people who would love to read more of that great story. I actually started watching Without a Trace and you really had the voices down.

I´m also patiently waiting for more of your wonderful story. I hope you will find the time. Hugs, Sunny

I don't usually read cross-overs, but the "Without a Trace" one was really good. I've also been hoping to see it finished.

Hey, you!!! *hugs* I've missed you!!!

And how can you leave out [livejournal.com profile] bigboobedcanuck??? BLASPHEMY!!! lol

Can I ask what J2 is?

Here's a variety for you to choose from:

Reason to Believe (http://www.bjfic.net/main/viewstory.php?sid=1648) by Tammy is an amnesia!Brian story.

No More Ugly Naked Guy (http://darksylvia.livejournal.com/434321.html) by [livejournal.com profile] darksylvia a QAF/Friends crossover. You only need to have seen at least one episode of Friends for this to be hilarious.

Mart Miracles (http://community.livejournal.com/rei_of_writing/3408.html) by [livejournal.com profile] rei_of_writing a story with Claire's point of view featuring Brian/Justin and Gus.

PsychoFic (http://laylafic.livejournal.com/3058.html) by [livejournal.com profile] laylafic is a complete novel. If you can read Stephen King you can read Psycho Fic.

Since you're a J2er, and you're all into the BJ love now, have you tried Gale/Randy RPS yet? :)

[identity profile] wouldbedorothy.livejournal.com 2008-10-07 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sure! First, make sure you join [livejournal.com profile] galerandylove ...That's the place to be, lol.

I have a bunch of links, for my absolute favorite fics, a lot of them older (classics, if you will)... I have a top ten (or 12?) list somewhere, lol... Email me, if you want, at cerule14@aol.com and I'll give all of them to you.

And, I'm not too proud to be shameless. I've written a ton for them. Here's my G&R page on my website:
http://www.safetyofmystillness.net/galerandy.html

But maybe you should read mine before I give you my list of classics, because I fear for comparison! lol

Happy reading! :)

I have too many favorites to pick, so a few months ago, I came up with a ratings system.

Here's the ones I've listed with four stars: http://delicious.com/natalilaurin/%2A%2A%2A%2A

And five stars: http://delicious.com/natalilaurin/%2A%2A%2A%2A%2A

Some others I would highly recommend (I think I them have on the above list) "A Moment on the Lips" by Sapphire, which I read recently. It's about Justin developing anorexia while in New York. It's really well-written: http://www.midnightwhispers.ca/viewstory.php?sid=601&ageconsent=ok&warning=3

Also Crazyevildru's two stories "Nowhere to Run" and the sequel "Somewhere I Belong" where Justin is raped at the Sap's party. There are other fics dealing with this, but I think these are the best ones: http://crazyevildru.livejournal.com/tag/nowhere+to+run

And an older one: "Frozen Sunshine" by Thyme. Justin and Brian don't meet that night on Liberty. When they do meet Brian is interested from the start, but Justin is HIV positive and afraid of getting in involved with anyone: http://bjfic.net/main/viewstory.php?sid=3736&warning=R

Also try Edom's stories on Midnight Whispers; I've become a big fan.

And for some laughs after all that angst, "The Bracelet" by Miss Mako: http://heelsoverhead.net/stories/bracelet.html

You could also look through the Moonshadow Tribe site, they have a lot of great stories. Enjoy...

There is so much writing brilliance in this fandom.

Besides some mentioned here, especially Xie's series, I also greatly enjoyed work by [livejournal.com profile] allie_quixotic. Here is her list of Brian and Justin fics (http://allie-quixotic.livejournal.com/80871.html#cutid1). Her series, How We Got Wher We're Going is wonderful. She has not completed it's sequel, nor plans to.

I also greatly enjoy [livejournal.com profile] bdeviled's work. Her fictions are listed on the right-hand side of her journal (http://bdeviled.livejournal.com/). She has two complete series and one in progress, though it's been quite sometime since she updated.

The best thing is to go through other people's memories. There are treasures galore in many of them. :) Enjoy!

Hey there, and welcome to the comm :)
I'm glad you found so many recs to this request. I guess that technically, it is a bit unspecific, but I always find it very hard to be strict with newbies ;)) Anyway, could you please come back to this entry and edit it to say that there are recs in the comments? That'd be much appreciated ;D

Thanks in advance,
sms
