...I wonder if anyone remembers this story, and if it can still be found anywhere. I read it a couple of years ago on Bjfic.net, but I can’t find it now.
Edit: A link to where you can find this story is in the comments. Thanks for the help.
I think the title is “Something Only We Know.” It is a slight AU where the bashing didn’t happen. But Justin still runs off with Ethan at some point. They go to New York, but Ethan ends up being an abusive wacko. When Justin tries to leave him, Ethan locks Justin up in his apartment and keeps him there for five years while he himself becomes a big success in the music world.
He gives everyone some story about Justin running off to Europe, and nobody knows what really happened to Justin until something causes Brian to start looking for him, and he saves Justin from Ethan. I remember there was a sequel as well.

Removing fics doesn't automatically equal 'cease distribution'. Maybe she just doesn't want the fics connected to her name and/or her homepage? How do you or I know?
If a fic was offered only in a locked LJ and you got
it there, would you then unload it here for everyone?
No, I never did that and in my post I specifically asked to not upload fics that are locked and whose authors are around to decide who can and can't read them. But some of the fics used to be on f-locked journals that are no longer maintained, their owner just disappeared, but the fics are still there. Such as was the case with smittenkitten's stories, who explicably stated that they were only locked from minors. That shared folder is for fics that are impossible to get otherwise, not to walk around some arbitrary restrictions.
There are reasons writers lock their journals. There
are also reasons why they delete them or remove fics.
Who are we to second guess them? Those reasons may
well be personal -- or professional.
as I said, if the author doesn't want to be associated with their fics, we can post them uncredited. If we know they want to change characters' names and publish the story, well, whatever I think about such practice, I should respect that wish. The problem is, they posted their work as free and it's available. If they suddenly decide they want to gain profit out of it, they can't just undo posting it. The only thing they can count on is that people liked and respected their work enough to buy it when it's published, but the fic? It's free, you made it free yourself, how about being an adult about your actions? I know it's harsh, but so is life. As for other reasons authors might have to un-publish (provided they didn't make them clear), how are we supposed to know them? You think they don't want their stories to be read, I'd sooner think they just don't want to be known as the author.
So do you feel free to
take fics from those sites and repost them in your
own forum? Or archive them on your own site without
permission of the author or the site? In other words,
does anything go?
Those are rhetorical questions, right? Because if they're not, the answer is: you're kidding, right? In the post that, I suppose, caught your attention (f-locked, mind you, so you don't have to worry about the link being google-able unless someone shared it publicly) I stated clearly 'terms of use' and they didn't go beyond what already seemed acceptable here. So, NO! no reposting against the author's will or stealing content from readily available sites.
And that shared folder isn't my site, I have no ability to gain any profit or glory out of it. It's just a way of optimizing the process of sharing by mail, nothing more.
I'm sorry If I sound rude (I always do, and English isn't even my first language, so I have a lil' less control here), but I just can't agree with some of your points, they're slightly irrational to me, even if I understand where you're coming from. I'm ready to restrict access to the folder if that turns out to be necessary. But for now I'm just going to stand my ground.
