Fifty Shades themed fics....*Some recs inside*

I just finished Fifty Shades of Grey book 1. I was wondering if there are any fics along the lines of Shades for my boys Brian and Justin. If so please share.

Thanks in advance!!!

I read it because I was curious especially because of the "former fan fiction" aspects. It wasn't all bad - just badly written *coughs*. Which means that it still sucks you in. Obviously. People may say that they don't like it, but they still buy it, don't they? For me, it's a good example for "guilty pleasures".

I do agree that we have way better porn here in our fandom, but there are AUs about "Pretty Woman" and other stuff that is just as bad and I still read it, so why not "50 shades"? Just stealing the concept doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be a bad thing.

Oh, I think that sooner or later someone will adapt 50 shades for b/j fic, it's just that 50 shades itself is not original, lol. That's the problem with it - it's a very generic concept that's been done to death before, only 50 shades turns it 5 times longer than before, and puts it into awful, cringeworthy prose. "Fabulously rich Alpha male seduces an innocent virgin and turns her into his sub" books have been written since the dawn of Harlequin, or whatever its NC-17 rated counterpart is called.

Sure it's not original at all. In every sense of the word. I'm just honest about the fact that if it's readable and pops up in my fandom, I'll read it anyway. Might even be better than the "original"...

Besides the fact that it sucks, talk to some people in the lifestyle. They are livid over the depiction of the lifestyle. Plus which, I really don't find anything remotely sexy about tampon removal in my porn. *shudders*

Well, it's not even published in Germany yet, so I haven't really talked to many people about it. I wrote a preview in my blog (which was the main reason for reading the whole thing in the first place instead of just flipping through the sex scenes, um, pages) and the BDSM thing was indeed my main point of criticism. Not so much that James toys with the concept, I think that BDSM lifestyle people have to accept that many people occasionally play without really going all the way. What really made me squirm was the fact that Christian Grey himself is emotionally unstable because of former experiences with abuse and that the author sort of suggests that BDSM sex is a crutch for him before Ana teaches him to "walk" by loving him and showing how to "make love". There even is a scene where Christian says: "We're lovers, we don't need safewords." I can see why this makes people angry.
About the tampon removal, yeah well, I did not find that overly gross. I didn't find it sexy, but kind of sweet actually. I'd even say if women's bodily juices cross such a line we might need more of those scenes...

This ignorant take on BDSM makes me angry, and I don't even like BDSM. I read an article lately where a guy confessed that he liked this book, because it taught him a lot about women's sexuality. Um, of course he liked it! This book taught him that it's okay to initiate sexual acts his lover is not comfortable with, she will bear with enjoy everything because she loves him! Ana didn't know what she was signing up for and Christian took advantage of her innocence. BTW, remember the defloration scene? OMG! Date rape, if I ever saw one. SHE WAS A FREAKING VIRGIN! A little preparation would be nice, Christian, but y'know, don't let a small detail like putting her through excruciating pain derail you from getting your gratification. I HATE that James romanticized that.

I like your take on the tampon scene, but personally, if someone did this to me when I'm on my second day of period and don't feel like fucking, or, to be honest, living, someone would be picking his teeth from his million dollar marble floor. It is not okay to invade someone's body like that.

Oh I agree, I don't feel like fucking then either. But there are lots of women who are even hornier then and as long as it is safe, it shouldn't be taboo or anything. Just saying that a tampon with a little bit of menstrual blood is not really a big deal.

Yeah, it's different for every woman, which is why it's important to ask first, because in real world there'd be 50% chance that period sex would be painful or at least very uncomfortable for Ana. In 50 shades universe there is literally nothing she doesn't enjoy sexually and it automatically makes every abusive stunt Christian pulls okay. THAT is not okay! Ugh, this book.

*lol* Like it or not, it makes people and especially women talk about what they do like. Maybe the outcome of the bad thing isn't such a bad thing after all. At least, that's my personal conclusion.

I will not start counting all the other tragedies that made people talk about important issues, for the sake of saying "The good doesn't compensate the bad" :D Or that the positive fallout would still happen if the book was good. Probably.

Then I guess I should leave out the FLOGGING ANA WHILE SHE'S PREGNANT, then? Hell yeah, that's sexy as hell! Gimme more of that!

This book needs to die in a fucking fire.

I'm sure Anastasia never gets cramps. Just like she happens to not have a gag reflex. What luck :)

Here's the thing. While I actually enjoy a little realism in fics/books, I don't need a tampon removal in the middle of a sex scene. People take shits, too, doesn't mean I wanna read about it. It has nothing to do with crossing a line, it has to do with the fact that the writer thinking that detail was necessary tells me that she needs to do some research. Maybe I should link her to Minotaur's How To Write A Sex Scene.
