Ok, so I just got done reading Remission by Simon. It was a good story. However, I suddenly feel the need to read something upbeat. Anything upbeat.

It doesn't have to be fluffy or sappy, just cheerful. But not crackfic, please.

Any help would be seriously appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit: I have a couple of super-fast recs in the comments, but any others would be appreciated.

Edit 2: This was not meant as a reccomendation. While meaning no offence to the author, this is a truly depressing story, made far, far worse by the personal connections and reality it involves. It is not a story I will ever re-read. If you do choose to read it, don't blame me when it upsets you.

When I read something by Simon I needed a brain scrub and to spend a lot of time with positive love affirming stories.

I always rec the same things. So here's one that's purely random but makes me smile.

TT - who is this Simon person and why have you not shared this name with me before? Feeling clueless here. So much fic to read, so little time.

Do NOT read Remission!!!!!

Trust me on this. It's a death fic, and the most depressing story in fandom.

I wish someone would have been so kind with me when I found her's "The Other Foot Series"... I thought that it was a tipical story where Justin and Brian are apart but then got back together and it was so depressing that it's still the fic I hate the most in the fandom. I'm not saying that the author wasn't good, but just that it really upsetted me and I still remember it not matter how many happy fics I read... reading that sort of "what if" where they got back together, was definitely a little bit better but I could still have nightmares on this series. And I never went past the first installment in the series which by the way, was fucking heartbreaking in the end of the 8th chapter...

I loved this warning - it made me LOL.

BTW, isn't it rather ironic to name something remission then have it be a death!fic?

To give you a rec, have you ever read Sapphire's "Board Games Gone Wild" series? I can't seem to rec it enough, but it is HILARIOUS. Tipsy Brian/Justin playing board games? YESSSS. I'm really lazy right now, so sorry, but she's in the tags.

Also, sad day, I can't rec my own stuff since it's almost all sad. lol. But this one time I wrote this one thing that wasn't sad, but I'm too lazy to link it... /shameless & lazy self promotion

I've read remission by Simon. It's a good fic for Justin-haters and even for Brian-haters.
I've sadly discovered in time that there are some authors who write stories about B/J, but only with the purpose to make them suffer...and no happy ending, god forbit*g*
No offence to Simon, whoever he/she is, but if you really love B/J, STAY AWAY;)

Hi everyone!
I followed the thread with lots of interest.
I never read anything written by Simon -actually, I'm very new in the fandom so I think there is a lot to discover, still- but I found highly useful to know what fics can break your heart in two.
I'm not into death!Fic, neither AwfulEnding!fics, or so, and knowing myself, I would totally go into them just to finish the reading and feeling totally destroyed.

So thank you!

As well I followed sodoesrachael's suggestion and went to find Sapphire's fic.
It's AMAZING.
Just to make it easier for everyone to find it, here's the link:

It's the first part but in her memories you can find it all, I guess.
It absolutely worths some attention!

Amish!Justin?

I'm just shamelessly taking all the recs and bookmarking them to read later, but what's this about Amish!Justin? Could I beg for a link?

Also, regarding the "topic", I also have met a story with such a terrible ending that it took me weeks to recover. If only I'd know beforehand that the author likes to either start happy and end miserable, or start miserable and end happy. Too bad I took an overload of miserable, because the sequel starts miserable. (But that was in Naruto fandom, so no one is really interested.)

I feel your pain, but I can't think of anything to rec. Sorry!

... or maybe... By Any Other Name (http://community.livejournal.com/qaf_challenges/72285.html) or Cupcake (http://eleveninches.livejournal.com/138433.html) or Identity Crisis (http://www.suzvoy.com/qaf/identitycrisis.html) or Like Having Sex (http://yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/000070.html) or NOM de GUS (http://community.livejournal.com/qaf_challenges/8907.html) or something super-long: Sunshine Files (http://www.mags-nificent.com/MSW/TS.htm)?

I hope there's something you haven't read!

Luv, reb

Welcome to the club? I can't remember names either. I do remember what happened - sometimes in quite detail - but the name of the story or author always escapes my memory.

Thanks for the link. I'll have to bookmark it for now. I've been hanging out in here way too much; I have a loooooong list of fics to read now. (And here I was worried that I didn't have anything to read!)

But yeah, the Naruto story: At first there is a great prank war and school stuff that are very funny and inventive, then Sasuke and Naruto end up together until Itachi shows up with a gun, shooting almost everything that moves, including Sasuke. Then Itachi dies in the end and Sasuke goes into coma from his injuries. The sequel... Uh, let's not get into the sequel. Anyway, it was traumatic. *shudders*

Someday I will read it all and get my happy ending, but not anytime soon. Maybe in a year or two.

But if there are giggles in the horizon from the Amish story, I might be intrigued to read it a.s.a.p...

Oh god, it's like a train wreck. I have to read even though everyone's said not to. Can someone hit me over the head to selectively erase this post from my memory?

Maybe I'll bury it deeeeeeep in my bookmarks.

Well, it was either bookmark it to read later (which may never come seeing as how much there is to read) or keep it up as my current read-in-progress. I opted for the former in hopes it's so far down the list I'll die before I get to it:)

Yes, I'm a cat and I know what they say about curiosity!
