Websites being shut down...
Dec. 31st, 2009 04:39 am...is completely ruining my fanfic-reading life. I have this huge list of author's websites that I always refer to when I'm in the mood for BJ fics but since geocites and aol died, I have lost some major webpages. Hence, my problem. I'm actually looking for a few fics as well as authors.
1. I feel like I know this story's title but I'm not really sure. I think it was called "Change of Heart" but actually have no clue whether I'm right. It's an AU that starts off with BM. Michael's a total dick in this story until, like, the very last chapter or whatever. But anyways, I digress. So, Brian and Michael are together because Michael basically threatened Brian with their friendship. Brian meets Justin, they fuck, fall in love, yadda yadda. Michael catches them and goes beserk, breaks Justin's hand accidentally and BJ officially get together in the end. That's one.
2. Since geocites is down, I haven't been able to find Severina's fics anywhere. Is that just me? Am I the only one that doesn't know how to find her fics?
3. Rena's Observation. I checked MSW but I can't seem to find it. I wonder if it's just another one of my fail moments...
4. Finally, I'm looking for a fic that's about a custody battle between basically BJ and Mel and Linds over Gus. Mel and Linds were being negligent towards Gus (I think it was Gus' birthday party but he left because too many people were cooing over JR and Brian finds him). Brian ultimately wins--I'm pretty sure.
Thanks in advance!
PS: Is bjfic.net not working? I can't seem to access it and I was wondering if it was just my internet connection or something.
ETA: Thanks to everyone for their help. Links and info are in comments. Once again, thank you all! <333

Also, for point 4, I can't remember the name of the story or the author but check out the archives for getithere as I know that a link to the story was asked for not so long ago.

Date: 2009-12-31 03:42 pm (UTC)I looked for that fic forever, it wasn't apparent in either her tags or memories, so if that is the fic of hers you are looking for, you can find it here:

Date: 2009-12-31 03:53 pm (UTC)There have been numerous issues with hosting for the website.
In particular, there is the issue of hosting Adult content.
You can track updates - that are not frequent due to a combination of issues at the bjfic website LJ:

I would like to make a note here/plea that people try to understand that the BJFic archive website has gone through a couple of maintainers. In all instances the people who maintain the archives give up their free time to handle any and all issues that arise.
When things are going well, there's not a lot of maintenance to do. But there is always email to answer, technical support to help people trying to post, and any number of help questions that users send it. Given the amount of hits the website normally gets, that's a lot for a single individual to take on.
I know that Cael (the keeper of the BJFIC archive) has requested help, but there are limits to coordinating with people of various skillsets and knowledge levels, now add into that a long distance factor and you can get the idea of what she is up against.
On her personal front, Cael has posted regarding health issues and poor connectivity from her home. I don't think that people who have good Internet connectivity can understand what people who don't have it go through. They are forced to use dialup lines in a world full of cable modems. That means that connections are slow and drop. When dealing with large amounts of data, such as the archive, that may mean spending hours, only to have to start back from square one.
And did I mention this was done in someone's spare time and they don't get paid?
So yes, BJfic.net will be coming back.
In the meanwhile you can try to look at files via the Wayback Machine - link in getithere sidebar - but realize that the BJfic.net archive was in a database, so it is unlikely you will be able to read stories posted.

Date: 2010-01-02 11:21 pm (UTC)Right this second I can link to at least 4 Harry Potter archives, large ones, that have adult content, and almost all of them include some form of chan, which is the hardest thing to get past a censor. It's a matter of contacting those web maintainers and finding out who host them. Also, I don't even want to contemplate how hard it is to do the job of maintaining an archive, which is the reason that the one archive I'm a part of I'm only an admin for and not the webmistress. But if you don't have time, or know that you're going to have to take a long break from it, you start putting out feelers for help. I know that there were several offers for exactly that.

Date: 2010-01-02 11:52 pm (UTC)Having had numerous things go on in my personal life (death of both parents, losing my job, H1N1 that took 3 weeks to recuperate from) I know very well that things can get away from you. I have a website migration that I've been trying to complete for over 6 months, and a newsletter I've been trying to get out for a similar amount of time. In my case, there is no one willing to come forward to help out and do either job for a non-profit I volunteer with.
From what Cael wrote to me in my journal was that she had had some health issues, but she was committed to getting bjfic.net back on line, but needed to work out the issues.
I wouldn't be surprised that if, once it got back on line she'll be looking for someone to take it on.
