BJFic needs your help!
Jun. 19th, 2009 01:45 pmHere's the deal:
1.) She needs a backup person for the site. She's handling it alone, and if she happens to be out of commission and the site goes down, someone needs to be able to get it back up and running. So, website people, if you can, please consider lending a hand.
2.) BJFic isn't a free site. Cael is handling the costs herself, but as you might expect, this can be a hardship at times. There are donate buttons on the main page, as well as links to Amazon.com where you can order whatever your heart desires. Again, if you can, lend a hand, and keep one of the largest QAF archives alive and working!
ETA:
Here is the link for donations: clschiller@paypal.com
Again, thanks, everyone!
Okay, between me and Cael, we're gonna get this damn thing right!!!

ETA 2
The lovely
The link you go to is http://www.paypal.com
When asked to whom you'd like to send money, you enter the person's e-mail address. In this case, it's clschiller@comcast.net
Then follow the rest of the instructions.
And to address some concerns I've heard voiced:
I would be comfortable doing this only because I know what I'm supporting and want to do so -- I think that bjfic.net is one of the best laid out QaF archives we have (I just wish it took all QaF rather than B/J only, and that everyone would archive there) -- and I know Cael. Others should do the same only if they feel comfortable doing so. There's no pressure, no requirement to contribute. It's simply the community pitching in to help a long-time fan keep a community resource alive.
Thank you, Flame!!

Date: 2009-06-19 09:02 pm (UTC)To be clear: by going through the amazon.com link on the front page of bjfic.net whenever you're going to buy something from amazon, bjfic.net gets a small cut.
(I know you know that, but I wanted to make sure that it's clear to everyone else.)
Here is the link for donations: clschiller@paypal.net
Um, that's not a link.

Date: 2009-06-22 03:03 am (UTC)However, given how tech illiterate many people in fandom are, it seemed to me the clearer we can make this, the more likely more people will pitch in.

And as you said, the other helpful option, once it's back up, is using the Amazon link on the bjfic homepage.
