I am looking for a fic (obviously) and hoping someone can please recognize it.

Justin leaves Pittsburgh (goes to Colorado, I think)and ends up being disabled after a car accident. I remember that he was the passenger, and that the driver was drunk - and a doctor whose coworkers chipped in to help Justin when the doctor died. After the accident, Justin starts painting again but doesn't want anyone to find him so his manager (it may have been a friend) says that she's the artist. Brian sees one of his paintings, knows its him and tracks him down.

Does that sound familiar to anyone? I thought I had bookmarked awhile back, but now I can't find it now that I want to re-read it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Definately Skipping Down the Primrose Path, link in comments. thank you all, that was really fast.

I've read this one. I wanna say it's one of Simon's but I don't think so. Lemme think on it a little.

Will you please edit your subject line to include a bit of the description? I know it's hard sometimes to do succinctly, but you can get a lot in the subject line. for example: "B/J not together & J disabled in CO w/ abusive doc bf & is reclusive painter" not the best grammar ever, but it would get the point across. ;)

I've read that... (I think) If it's what I think it is, then it's the OTHER, "Other Foot Series". You know, the one with a bit of a happier ending. I can't remember the name at the moment, or author, (I know I'm not much help) but I think its the other edition of the Other foot series. I hope I'm making sense, sorry if I'm not. But I'm pretty sure its the other version of Simon's series. I hope I helped some, and if I do find it, I'll let you know.

The "Skipping Down the Primrose Path" one? Is that by Margaret, maybe? I sure had Simon hooked in for this one somehow or other.

Well, I did kinda remember the title and it is by Margaret, but I didn't look at any of the fic (http://www.mags-nificent.com/MSW/MagF/Path.htm), though, to see if it's actually the one the OP is requesting.

...you're right. I read this one last year; it's Margaret's alternate to Simon's "The Other Foot." This one takes a turn early in the story with Justin hiding out in Colorado for several years after being crippled in a car accident, after Brian had left him for the other guy...what's-his-name...Steve...can't remember I think I blocked him out.

I totally try to block out that whole fic. Way too angsty for me.

I don't usually get traumatized by anything fictional, but that series is one of the most traumatic pieces of writing I've ever read...(that along with a couple of really dredful novels we were forced to read in 8th grade English class..)

I need to go find some humor-fic now...

I know. That one and Randall's 60 Letters in 60 Days: Brian to Adrian/Adrian to Brian are two fics I will never, ever, ever read again and if I could wipe them from my memory, I would. There's angst and then there's so upset your sleep is disrupted. I couldn't believe a fic could affect me like that.

...60 Letters in 60 Days? I'm sure I've read something by Randall before, but I don't think I'm familiar with that one...

Darn, now you've got me curious!

Randall's got tons of fic. "The Seven Stages of Brian and Gus" (might not be the exact title) is fabulous angst. The Letters one is just painful. Then again, it might not affect you the same way. I think Cael hosts his fic so you probably can't get to it until bjfic.net and all the associated sites come back online.
Mouse over on MW did an alternate "fix-it" to The Other Foot, but I don't think much got fixed. Did you read that one?

As for a humor!fic to cleanse your angstified palate, I was trying to remember the fic where Jen asks Brian to help her figure out what to wear on a date and they end up getting drunk and looking at old photo albums and Justin walks in on them, but I can't recall it. Oh, yes, I can, too. Good ol' comm Memories. Sons and Lovers (http://burnitbackwards.livejournal.com/90884.html). ;)

...I read "The Seven Stages of Brian and Gus'" that one was really good.

Though Mouse was one of the first writers I discovered in this fandom, I somehow never got around to reading her alternate to "The Other Foot."

I still sort of go into a state of shock if I think too much about "The Other Foot" even if I know it's another author's re-do...I don't know how I managed to read Margaret's actually...

Thanks for the humor rec; I dont' think I've read "Sons and Lovers." But the description makes me think of two others though...one is a fic where Jen needs an escort to an awards dinner or something like that and she asks Brian to be her date. I remember in the other Jen gets drunk and asks Justin some rather inappropriate questions about his and Brian's sex life...

Yep, those are both fun. The one where she asks Justin what rimming is? Is that the one you're thinking of? It was just mentioned here in the last little while.

omg, I have *got* to go to bed!

I don't have a link for the one with Brian as Jen's date, but this is the one with Jen's embarassing questions to Justin, ironically, it's by Simon: http://www.mags-nificent.com/MSW/SiF/Chat.htm I tend to enjoy her one-shots more than her overly-angsty series. I don't remember if Jen asks Justin about rimming in this one though...

The story where Jen asks Justin about rimming is by Pocket Rocket called Curiosity, at the link http://users.livejournal.com/_pocket_rocket_/9931.html#cutid1

...thank you, that was really good. Though my immediate reaction to the first line was kind of like Justin's; I almost spit my lunch over the keyboard...

I'd never read that one before; it's great, thanks again.
