[identity profile] ntua.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] getithere
Sorry mods, if this isn't allowed here...

Scott Lowell is asking for help! Check out his Facebook post here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scott-Lowell/339055209457239

So, I'm confused. Why does FB tell me that my post about the online petition for more QAF has reached almost 11,500 people (as of 7/2) and yet only 905 have signed the petition? Is FB wrong or are people just not signing? Does the petition not "Work" in all countries? Or is something else preventing people from signing? "Veronica Mars" had over 90,00 backers of their project giving actual money. This is just asking for a "show of hands". I am so very VERY thankful for all who have already signed ... but where are all the thousands of QAF fans who supposedly want to see more? How do we reach them? If this online petition form isn't a good one, is there a better format somewhere? Send a message if you have suggestions. I'd like to get a real feel for how many fans ACTUALLY would want to see more QAF. It's the #1 question any prospective producer is going to want to know: How many will watch? Thanks!!!

And go sign the petition here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/641/774/746/bring-back-queer-as-folk-to-celebrat-pa-gay-marriage/?taf_id=11199794&cid=fb_na

Spread the word!

A movie! Have signed immediately. Thanks for posting this. Moderators please, please let this posting stay for a bit at least. If the producers have any queries as to whether QAF is still watched/wanted, a quick scroll down the getithere postings would soon confirm it.

I started to sign, but it wanted my phone number and mailing address. I did not want to leave that info. Maybe other people have clicked to sign (thus the 11,500), but then backed out because they wanted too much personal information.

No phone number, but did have to give address. The petition looks like it is part of a wider petition signing site. They have already sent me one e- mail asking me to sign other petitions. Just clicked unsubscribe, job done.

I signed it! A movie would be great. Would Brian's view of marriage have changed given the changes since 2005? And would the actors all be willing to come back? I was under the impression Hal Sparks wasn't too happy about some of the other actors dissension over the last (horrible) season.

I think Randy would be the hardest to tempt back. From some interviews I read the producers were pretty awful to him, esp in the later series. I think he couldn't wait to get back to his real passion - theatre. Maybe he'll do it for the fans.

Sharon Gless said in a recent interview all the actors are willing to do a reunion, and Hal Sparks is tweeting about the petition.

Great news. It would be interesting to see what direction the producers take the show. Let's just hope that they do the right thing - I could accept most things with the exception of B/J death.

I also wanted to sign, but I will not give my address and phone number to anyone on line.

I signed. It never asked for a phone number.

I didn't sign because I don't want a movie. Maybe other fans feel the same?

You don't want Cowlip re-ruining what you already fixed, right? ;) That was pretty much my feeling.

I signed because I didn't want them to think I just don't care, but I did express my reservations about it on Scotty's facebook page.

I just have a bad feeling about where it would go.

Although I know what I'd write if it were up to me: Debbie and Carl's wedding now PA has marriage equality, a big ensemble plot, and only gradually would we get filled in on what everyone had been up to.

You know that if they make a movie, they're not going to have Brian and Justin get back together, outside of a hot weekend. Or, and I could totally get behind this, have them get together to reminisce about back in the day, kiss each other goodbye and wish each other well. I think wrapping them together in a big bow would ruin it for me. It would feel false.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by all the good fix-it fic out there.

I'm totally spoiled by fic and I'm happy with that. Damn it. Starting to wish I had not signed the thing.

Red, the "wish each other well" scenario would totally kill me. I can't think why, knowing that B/J was their most popular element and that 513 pissed a lot of people off, they'd want to do a movie that would just piss people off more. But I don't trust, and I don't even really know what I would want to see. I just know I'm afraid of a How I Met Your Mother finale situation, where they take a show I loved for years and manage to stick an ending on it so bad that I can't ever watch the show again.

I wanted the actors to be able to do a movie if they wanted, and I figured I could just decide not to watch if I was unsure and I wouldn't even have to know what happened, but there's no way I can avoid it if I stay in fandom, even if I never really go anywhere but here.

Tempted to send Scotty this thread.

I didn't sign. I think QAF is beautiful the way it is, I'm just afraid of being disappointed by the movie.

Same here. I love QAF with all my heart, but I'm afraid it's impossible to make a good movie which many people will like. Years have passed, all of us have built our own version of life post 513, so the majority will be disappointed anyway. The most important reason, however, is that I just can't imagine what else can be said in QAF. They touched all the topics, they told us everything about everyone, what else is there to mention? Yes, I'd love to see Brian and Justin happily living together, Debbie and Carl, Michael and Ben marrying, but it's just not enough to make a movie about. Probably producers might pleasantly surprise us, but I'm afraid it's almost unreal.

I feel that, due to all of the progression that LGBTQ civil rights have made, it could end up being good. We can see how they have grown and changed over the years and it seems to have been long enough in order for them to have changes in opinions. I think that the Brian/Justin storyline would be the heart of the story Maybe they could have more of Gus, since he would be 14 now so it could cover him discovering himself and his parents' past as well. Maybe a miniseries might be more efficient if they want to be more thorough and make it be less rushed.
