I recently read an amazing war time story (though it broke my heart) called To each is own, which is here http://bj-teho.livejournal.com/2002.html and now I'm in the mood for more.

sapphire_3 The Lark Series, mandagrammy has a war type story I think I remember reading too. I also read Gone by big_brian_o
I did scan the tags but didn't see anything based on war fics, I will go back in and look again in case I missed anything.
Help is much appreciated if you know of any of these kind of stories.
