[identity profile] deviant-queen.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] getithere

I'm taking a Social Psychology course this semester and I will have to give a presentation on a certain topic. My topic is prejudice.

The assignment is to find a media clip on YouTube that relates to our topic and create a presentation slide discussing it. Pretty simple, easy A.

I'm searching for a QAF scene to show. It has to show prejudice, be no more than 3 minutes long, and be fairly school-safe. This is college, so cussing is alright, but no nudity or overly graphic sex talk.

I was thinking of the "this queer says fuck you" scene between Justin and Chris or maybe even Brian's "this is who I am" speech (a different angle), but I want more ideas that better show prejudice.

Any ideas or links to good clips would be awesome to get me started!

ETA: Many suggestions in comments! I'm not sure which I'll be using, but thanks to everyone that helped me out!

Perhaps the scene where the Senator is outside St. James School?

Maybe the one from early on season 1, where Michael is out with his co-worker and Brian calls him and gives him his "there's two kinds of straight people" speech. Might be interesting to see how a gay character expresses prejudice towards straight people.

I think the most moving and large show of prejudice that would work is the GLC scene with Stockwell being confronted about him leading the police force in prejudice in episode 311.
Then there is the prom/bashing too but I think the GLC clipprobably hits the point of your assignment more.

Everyone has mentioned some good scenes. I think that it's a great idea to think about showing some prejudice towards straight people. I mean that was an amazing moment.

The other one that comes to mind is the after-bombing hospital scene. It's a strong scene to show, would evoke emotions, and makes the prejudice point as well.

How about the scene between the head of St James and Jennifer discussing the Gay-Straight Alliance and his comparison to a a skin head group.

If you're looking for a scene where there is prejudice against same-sex parents, there is the scene season one where baby Gus gets sick and the nurse won't let Melanie into the emergency room with Lindsay. The nurse there was very prejudice ("Look Mrs... whatever you are...").

I think of the scene when the prop 14 advocates are driving down Liberty Ave. shouting out their agenda with the megaphone...

The looks on Debbie, Michael, Ben & Justin's faces says it all!

The vigil scene at the GLC after the bombing when one of those churchy people shouts that Michael should have died - then Ben clocks him

How about the scene in season 5 where Justin confronts his father in his office about his support of Prop 14 and Craig goes into his homophobic rant...I think it's the one where he has Justin arrested later for protesting in front of the store.

Or the one in season one where Justin gets into the fight with Chris and Craig accuses Justin of "flaunting" himself and slaps him.

Wow! QAF really did an amazing job raising awareness of homophobia in all of its forms, and prejudice from unexpected people, like Brian.
I assume you would not be able to show a utube video, but just in case you can, check out
qaf - Brian/Justin - This is war
by dunyaxa
which shows a montage of a lot aforementioned scenes. It is really powerful.

Grrr... indeed!

I wonder (though I am pretty sure not...) if you could access it through my journal? I posted the link on Nov 13, 2010. Maybe if you try from there, it would somehow circumvent the block. (I know NOTHING about how internet censure works...) It's a crying shame you cannot view this.
All of her vids are awesome. (I have a couple more posted on my LJ).

Edit:
Hey! You're from the US aren't you?
I'm pretty sure I've accessed dunyaxa's utube vids in Seattle before.
I wonder why you can't.
Weird...

I thought of another one...the scene where Justin sticks up for the guy in his classroom & Hobbs answers 'queer' when Justin's name is called & the teacher does nothing about it.

Can't remember the exact episode, but I'm sure someone knows it.
