Mod post - NEW COMM RULE!

Hello, lovelies!

A recent incident with comments coming up screened made your mods realize that we needed a new rule (one we actually thought we had already). I've added it to the profile page, and it reads as follows:

Do not post from your own journal; come to GIH and post DIRECTLY to the comm. We ask this because posting from your own LJ means you are posting using your own settings, and can therefore cause issues such as locked posts, screened comments, weird fonts/colors, etc., which we then either have to fix or ask you to fix. Let's save us all some time, 'kay?

Don't worry, we're not going to kick ya out if you forget, or even yell lol. We do realize many of you may be used to posting from your LJ, but please make your best effort to remember the new rule. After all, why wouldn't you want to come here? ;)

Hi mods,
I'm not sure of the comm policy on tags but I was wondering if there was a way to encourage people to use the tags when they post searches (or even enforce). I see lots of old posts that are tagged but no one tags their new posts now.so this causes multiple searches of the same fic but also people like me who uses tags in search comms to find new fics to read can't find anything after a while. personally I can't even remember the last time I posted a search here but I come to look for fics when I have a B/J craving and start with tag page to find the theme I'm craving for =)
obviously you have lives and can't spend every moment here warning people to tag their posts but maybe a reminder or two from time to time?

Actually, the comm policy on tags is that posters cannot tag their own posts. When you post, it won't let you choose tags. Tagging is done entirely by the mods, primarily me. I am a little behind in my tagging (about 3 weeks back in posts, whereas I prefer to always have all but the last 1-2 weeks tagged), but I shall try to catch up a bit this weekend :)

I realized that we were one of the only comms that tags our own posts. I belong to SFF also, and while it's convenient to tag your own posts, sometimes I get confused over there.

I'm used to it from modding comms. It's just not my default, you know? On the occasions where I've posted there (looking for one of Eriador's fics, I think), I looked at the tag list and thought, oh god...which one do I choose!?

Hello, hello, ladies! Just letting you know that the paddies' clone site is officially back in commission! I had to look through all the links to make sure the virus was out so hopefully there won't be any malware. It was a Christian virus. Literally. It came with a Bible verse at the end of it. I protected the site but I know what to do now if there's ever another virus.

Just letting you know since people have been asking me about it. Thanks for not taking the link off the sidebar! Much appreciation.

Go to the comm profile page (http://getithere.livejournal.com/profile) and click where it says "post" (in between "view friends feed" and "track"). Then... post! :)
