I posted this bunny over on promptmesomeqaf...

After Brian rejects him at Jennifer’s request in Season 2 Episode 2, Justin fakes his death and leaves Pittsburgh. A devastated Brian takes off after the funeral, promising only to keep in touch with Lindsay regarding Gus. Will Brian and Justin's paths ever cross?

Has there ever been a fic written with this plot? I've read fics where Justin leaves Pittsburgh without telling anyone, but I don't remember one where he actually fakes his death so no one will look for him. I know Moonshadow Woman wrote a fic where Michael helped Justin leave, but they didn't fake his death.

ETA: There are a few fics rec'd in the comments, but nothing that matches what I'm looking for. Still hoping though.

I'm not aware of one. The only death-faking story I know is that one where Brian fakes his death right before the wedding and they both end up professors at the same school years later. Of course, that was a witness protection scenario. I can't quite fathom Justin faking his death just from Brian turning him away. His level of depression would have to be so high that it would then be hard to imagine him pulling off something so complicated and requiring so much effort.

Still, an intriguing plot bunny. If an author manages to write it and not make me hate Justin for doing that to Brian, I'll be highly impressed! lol

ETA: I could imagine Craig and/or Jennifer faking Justin's death to keep him from Brian. THAT may already exist.

Do you have a link/title for the fic you described? I searched through the tags for witness protection/professors and found nothing.

Never mind, just looked over the tags again and my daughter spotted it. Guess I am getting old.

I know of a few stories where Justin is assumed dead:

Bird on a Wire by Nightvision55:

Needle Cushion by Butterscotch:
http://www.midnightwhispers.ca/viewstory.php?sid=2364

Remember Me by Predec2:

I like the whole premise of what you suggested. I would love to read such a story and have been thinking about a similar plot recently. I pray someone comes up with a story to follow your prompt.

There's a new story on bj fic with this type of scenario. It's called, "Second Chances." Justin was so depressed by Brian doing that, he left town.
He gets a girl pregnant and now 17 years later he's back in Pittsburgh as his wife died. He has never started art again, and he's teaching at
Carnegie Mellon in Economics. I really like it so far.

Here's the first chapter, then you might have to go through bj fic.
