It's driving me crazy!

*sigh*  Yes, it's me again!

I'm not crazy, I'm not!!!!  I specifically remember reading a fic about Brian having some sort of accident and when he wakes up he has the mind of a child.  Justin is with Ethan but breaks up with him and moves back in with Brian to help him. 

Because Brian has no memory of his horrible childhood his personality is different.  At one point I remember when Brian's brain advances to a teenager and he's confused about his sexual urges. 

I swear I thought that story, Lasting Promises by Tammy was it, but that one is only 2 chapters, and unfinished -- unless the story is posted somewhere else? 

I also remember that it was complete, not a WIP.

Is there anyone who knows this fic?

ETA:  Thanks to  foreverfolked.  The story is Maybe This Time Book II by Ashleigh.  I'd been mixing the plot with Tammy's story, which was why I was confused.

It all of a sudden strikes me as really funny that we *can't remember* the amnesia fics! :DDD

I thought Lasting Promises was finished, too, and it matches your description, but I checked her now-defunctsite via the Wayback Machine and it's not finished there, either.

This is the description I wrote earlier of a fic I'm looking for:

1. Brian hits his head and doesn't remember anyone but Justin and doesn't really remember Justin all that well. All his snark goes away and what's left is gentle, hidden but we all knew it was under there!Brian. He gets a car and furniture to accommodate Gus, etc., can't figure out why anyone would want to be friends with the old Brian given what he's been told about himself by everyone because he appears to be such a jerk.

oops, I meant to add to that description to see if this matches the one you're thinking of. When Brian's in the hospital, he asks Justin if he (Brian) is gay and if Justin is also gay because he's been noticing the men workers.

They go to Babylon one night and he's appalled that his old self wanted to fuck all the guys especially since he's got Justin. There's a scene in the diner where he's really sweet to people, I think. He has concerns about working because he doesn't have that snarky edge for advertising any more.

I still think your story is Tammy's, though. Wonder if her yahoo group is still in existence?

You can find & copy/save her fics on her old website if you use the wayback machine (http://www.archive.org/web/web.php). It's a search engine for discontinued websites.

put Tammy's website (http://www.never-ending-love.de) in the search box and click. You'll get a bunch of pages. I think if you click the last entry in the 2005 column you'll get everything. If not, click around on some of the other links. Sometimes the wayback Machine is cumbersome, but it's fantastic for finding old fics you've heard about that aren't on teh web anymore.

I don't know if she left the fandom. Are you a member of the bjfic yahoo group? If so, you could ask about her over there. A lot of those folks aren't on LJ.

The goods news for you though, is that I think the one you're talking about is the OTHER fic Tammy wrote, Reason To Believe which is at bjfic.net. That was a great fic too.

But really, the fic I'm looking for was so good. It's driving me crazy now.... grrrr......

OMG yes, thank you! I was about to say no, it wasn't that story, but I'd forgotten that Brian lost his memory in that one, since it's mostly a story about Justin's struggle with Multiple Personality Disorder. I was kind of mixing the plot with Tammy's story, which was why I was confused.

*sigh* now I can go to sleep in peace. That was bugging the shit out of me!

The story is SOOOOOO long. It's not finished either (grrrrrr!), but what I did read of it I was very intrigued. The way she handles MPD is very interesting. It's sort of a dark story, but at the same time is a love story (or rather a love triangle) with Brian, Justin, and one of Justin's personalities, Amos.

You should check it out if you have the time.

Oh, that *is* a good one. Maybe that's the one I mean. I don't remember amnesia specifically in that fic, just that he ODs, they think he tried to commit suicide and it turns out to have been some E or something that was stepped on with bad shit. Lemme me go look.

I'm having so much fun in this comm the past couple days! I feel like a beginner reader again for some reason, even though I've read nearly all the recs at some point or other. :)

By the way, I found it, and feel like such a bonehead! I was mixing Tammy's plot with the other story I read, Maybe This Time (Book II).

It's nice to know I'm not crazy though! LOL. And I can finally relax now. It was sooooooo bugging me!
