Okay, I read this story a long time ago and it was a WIP and I don't remember the name or the author of the story. Michael leaves Pittsburgh, moves across the country and meets this guy who has a best friend that reminds him a lot of Brian. At one point in the story, Michael's new lover takes him surfing and Michael also spends Christmas with his lover's family. This story is about Michael trying to get away from everyone in Pittsburgh because he doesn't like himself and the way he acts, and he does grow up a lot. If anyone has any idea I'd be much appreciative. Thanks.
