Teen Gus runs away with dog

I'm looking for a specific fic that I read a while ago.

I've looked through the memories a little but can't find it.

Gus is a teenager, Jenny Rebecca is there as well, Gus finds a dog and wants to keep it but Melanie and Lindsay won't let him so he runs away. Brian and Justin don't know each other. Gus is hitch hiking and Justin picks him up. Justin can read minds, he's going to teach at some school. Eventually Gus makes contact with Brian. Brian comes to where Gus and Justin are and feels the connection with Justin.

Does this sound familar to anyone??
I feel like I should know the name of it but I can't remember!
