Courtesy posting - how to find missing fics

If you are having trouble finding fics that used to be somewhere but are no longer where they used to be and KNOW THE URL, you can use the wayback machine:

http://www.archive.org/index.php

It isn't always perfect. And if fics are in a database, it may stop at the title of a fic and you can't drill down below to the actual fic.

If you are looking for fics that used to be posted on one of the old Midnight Whispers sites, the old fics were saved and put in a directory designed for authors to be able to retrieve and repost them. The link seems to work some of the time - of late I've been getting an error of forbidden:

http://www.midnightwhispers.ca/old/stories/

When the link does work, you can drill down by author and you get a listing of files - not named - you kind of have to go through them. Stories are in sequentially numbered file names.
