*Ahem* I was wondering if anyone could recommend any fics where Justin calls Brian 'Daddy'. I looked through the memories, so besides 'Spare the Rod', 'Daddy's Little Boy' and the Fantsay series by OG Walton. Thanks in advance

I'll be paying close attention to the answer to this one, so I know what stories to completely avoid. There is no behavior among consenting adults that squicks me more than eroticizing the idea of parent-child incest. So thanks for listing these and asking the question. It'll save me some serious upset.

No, no need. He never, ever does it in a sexual context.

I didn't say you did. Nor was I criticizing your desire for such fics. You have every right to want to read them, just as people do to write them. I was simply expressing my thanks for your having asked the question, as the answer will be of interest to me too, albeit for different reasons.

As for the spanking scene in 213, he didn't that I know of.
[Cut to Justin dancing in his underwear on the coffee table in the loft as Brian eats Chinese take-out. Brian stops the music with the remote.]

Brian: Try not to step on my wontons.

Justin: [Climbing over to sit on the sofa next to Brian.] He said I'd be pulling anywhere from two to three hundred a night.

Brian: Well, that better be all you’re pulling young man, and remember, you still have your schoolwork to do.

Justin: And what if I don't?

Brian: Um, you'll have to be spanked.

Justin: [laughs] Yeah, just try it.

[Brian puts his arm around Justin, then pulls him over his lap…]

Brian: Down.

[He pulls down Justin’s underwear, and starts spanking him as he struggles and laughs.]

Justin: Stop.

Brian: You like it?

Justin: [Still smiling laughingly.] Ow! I was kidding! Stop. Oh yeah. [Then with a joking falsetto:] Don’t hurt me too bad.

[Mel and Linz slide open the loft door and walk right in without knocking.]
But even if he had, that scene was a playful joking thing not a serious sexual spanking. It's the use of that dynamic as a serious sexual thing that bothers me. I never said it I thought it was wrong that it didn't bother you.

By the way, I know I've run into at least two stories in the past few years that had what you're looking for. If I remember what they were, I'll be happy to let you know.

Sorry if it came across that way, but it was not intended that way at all. It was a very sincere immediate reaction to the subject matter in your post (which has long been an upsetting topic to me), and one that I hardly deserved to be attacked for. This is simply a matter of personal tastes and dislikes, and I have tried to keep this a civil and reasonable discussion as there is no reason to do otherwise.

I've never heard the word "daddy" in that scene, nor seen it in a transcript or subtitle. Perhaps I'm just missing something, or it was there in a screener version then edited out. It's entirely possible.

If I do come up with the names of the stories I read that have what you're looking for in them, I'll still pass them along for you to do with as you will since I know you are interested and others may be too. The names of the fics would be information, not recommendations.

It's okay. It's one of the risks of online interactions that sometimes intentions are misinterpreted since we have no prosody or facial expressions to assist us as we do with spoken word. If you knew me at all, you'd know that even if I had actually wanted to criticize you for your request, the last thing I would have done would be to do so publicly, especially in a sarcastic way. There is nothing I hate more in fandom than wank and people attacking others for their opinions rather than engaging in civil discussion or keeping their vitriol to themselves.

Well, see, so for you it's good when authors place BDSM warnings on their fics so that you can avoid them. Whereas no one puts sexual Daddy/child scenario warnings on their fics, so I've run into them accidentally on occasion. Thus my interest in this post.

As for the last comment having made you laugh... good, I'm glad. :)
I truly believe what my icon says, laughter is very good for the soul, and I can think of no better way to round off this dialogue (or any for that matter) than with a good laugh!

I hope you find what you're looking for.

Thank you for not devolving into wank. I was getting nervous, ladies.

It's nice when we can have a conversation that's heated, but not nasty. ;-)

I think, perhaps, there's a small argument to be made that you're right. Here's the 213 dialogue:

Brian: Try not to step into my Chinese food.

Justin: He said I'd be pulling $200 to $300 a night.

Brian: That'd better be all you're pulling young men. And remember you still have your schoolwork to do.

Justin: And what if I don't?

Brian: Mmmh, you'd have to be spanked.

There's no use of the word "daddy," but there is an implied parental tone in what Brian says. In context, I think it's his way of dealing with Justin becoming a go-go boy since he knows what that means. But there is a bit of the parental becoming erotic before Mel and Linds interrupt them, although I'm sure you could spin it some other way if you wanted to. Personally, I think many, many relationships have a somewhat parental element to them with one partner getting something from the other that reminds them of their mother or father. That doesn't seem strange at all.

Having said that, I'd have to agree it's not my cup of tea. However, you are free to look for those fics just as other people are free to write them! :)

I think there was a mentor relationship between Brian and Justin that was inevitable given the difference in their age. And I think once in a great while it spilled over into something like an endearment as when Brian calls Justin "Sonny-Boy" in 203. However, that's rare and for a fic to go into that in great detail ... well, that's fine, but, as I say, not my cup of tea. It's AU, imo, and I don't know any fics like that. I can see how people get there though. It's just not for me! :)

That could be any of a number of other relationships too (e.g. mentor/student as this one is in many ways), it needn't be parental per se. Plus, it was done very jokingly here.

I have absolutely no problem with lifestyle or sexual power exchange, D/s, or role play in any other form. In fact I greatly enjoy them. However, I, personally, am just squicked by the parent/child thing when it's in a serious sexual context. Everyone has their squicks, no-gos, and boundaries even those who live 24/7 in the BDSM lifestyle. That's one of very few of mine (the other major one being anything having to do with Nazis). I do not judge anyone else for enjoying it, I just don't want to be involved with it myself, or read about it in fic.

I support this point of view 100%, Flame! I have my own "buttons," that, if pushed, make me crazy. I just avoid those fics and there's always a little voice in my head saying, "Move along--nothing to see here! Move along!" But people can read/write what they want. I am not the arbiter of taste in the QAF fandom. God help us if I was, LOL!!!

You've been watching a different show to me. Thank God. They don't have a father-son dynamic, I can't see either of them getting off on that.

Of course you can read what you want, but don't try to tell me it stems logically from the show. It stems from a couple of out of context, early Season 2 comments made by Brian, and a lot of imagination.

I understand Brian's mindset post-bashing, and why he made the 'sonnyboy' and 'two sons' comments. I agree he was protective towards Justin especially in early Season 2, and that he sometimes took a mentorish role, mostly in the early seasons

Emphasising that dynamic even more is a major squick of mine in B/J fic though, be it sexual or non-sexual in context, mostly because it comes with an infantilized Justin.

To be honest, Justin calling Brian 'daddy' non-sexually is even weirder to me. Justin would never do it seriously. In fact, I think if he'd heard Brian's comments in Season 2, he would've been pretty pissed off. He didn't want Brian to think of him as a son or someone to be taken care of, he wanted the exact opposite. He wanted Brian to think of him as a partner and an equal. And ultimately, what Brian wanted and needed for himself was a partner and an equal.

But this has absolutely nothing to do with me having recs (which shockingly, I don't!) so I should probably shut up now. And sorry, I really don't care what anyone reads, but you seemed to imply that daddy!fic is a valid extension of canon and I really, really, strongly don't believe that (as you may have noticed!)

I *think* I once read a fic where there was some guy Justin knew and he called Justin "daddy" but for the life of me I can't remember the rest of the fic or what it was called.

Sorry, I can't help you out with daddy fics :) I just wanted to say, as you've discovered, the 'daddy' thing bugs a lot of people in this fandom.

Personally, I say, like whatever you like :)

Oh man, I saw 23 comments and got really excited because this happens to be a kink of mine too.

Too much arguing, not enough recs.

Justin doesn't ACTUALLY call him "daddy" but still.... Well, you really just have to read it.
