I did know the term slash, but the yaoi think... honestly every time I saw it I thought it was just another language one in which I didn't know how to read. :) Right I get what you're saying. It was nice to learn something new, that I'm sure I probably should have already known as I've seen people refer to it.

Someone should make a database of internet terms. No matter how long and involved I am I still find myself running across words or acronyms that I have no idea what they mean, though most of the mainstream ones I think I'm on top of. But then you have the whole 'how people define' each term that just goes array.

Thanks for explanation. -Rory

oh, i see that you still fail to make any points except your prejudices that you try to project on me. And you still didn't bother to read any of my posts properly, yet you keep crediting me with saying things you made up. Very well, I can skip your comment too, with no remorse. Time's wasting, after all, right?

Yea, I have some free time on my hands, but at least I'm using it on discussion, you're just looking for a fight and to pretend you're some messiah who came to defend some imaginary victims, none of which, for the record, once gain, were attacked here. You're preaching to the choir, girl. For someone who's so busy, you're surprisingly wasteful with your time.

BTW, it was amusing talking to you. And don't worry, it didn't take long to reply, because you didn't give any arguments to rebutt :)

have a good day.

huh? Nowai, it was Hal. Dr. Dave said that he has to brush his teeth/puke/rinse with bleacher after a gay kissing scene.

'twas Hal:

lol.

ok, apparently I need to work on communication skills or the education system needs to work on reading program. Just curious - what on earth did I say to make everyone think I'm attacking anyone? I was NOT, lol. This is seriously uncanny. Like you can't even ask a question anymore without having an ulterior motive :D Look, [livejournal.com profile] galeandrandy wasn't offended, I think [livejournal.com profile] emmakinney wasn't either. And they write it, so you'd think they'd be touchy about it. Why are you all offended by a simple question?

Sorry if what I wrote sounded confusing or, dunno, patronizing, I probably offtopped a little, because I couldn't argue with your post. The thing about slash just then resurfaced in my mind and I thought I'd share because IMHO it was one of the reasons why it might be harder to advocate some ideas in qaf fandom than in others. For the record, it's not even my observation, I read it somewhere.

p.s. "Randy's angry teeth of attack" is a joke :D It's from url_girl's icon: http://p-userpic.livejournal.com/70888734/3486462

I really hope you didn't listen to most of the replies you got. Sorry for that, but there's not much I can do about it.

And for the future, if something like this happens again, feel free to tell me about it. What really sucks about anonymous comments is that my replying to them won't even do anything, cuz unless they have this entry tracked (which I'm not really sure is possible in the first place) they won't know.

You know, even if this was the place for a discussion like this, and even if there was such a thing as being 100% right in the issues discussed here, and even if you happened to 100% right in all of them, I still can't imagine anyone would appreciate your tone. You obviously feel very strongly about all of this, which you have every right to do, of course, and yet, I'd appreciate some basics in all the comments here (be it you or others), like being polite and not attacking people. I don't want to define the point when exactly an opinion turns into flaming. And yes, I'm not too fond of having big discussions in the comments to posts, but it happens. As long as people respect that others have different opinions without putting them down for them, it's all good.

Hello there,

You know I can ask you the same thing. Yes, obviously we BOTH have to work on our communication skills probably because we don't really know each other in the first place? I wasn't really offended. Notice I made a joke on your joke? ^_^;;;

Obviously this conversation is going nowhere. It's very clear that no matter what each of us write we interpret it differently which is a good thing because it proves that every individual is unique and thinks differently. On that happy note... It's been nice talking to you, but I really don't want to prolong this. Thanks for the lively discussion. You know we should get together and write something together in the future. It would be very interesting. And I'm not being sarcastic.

Sincerely yours.

I’d like to add my completely ridiculous and totally unneeded opinion here. As a reader, and writer of menpreg I have to say that I love the genre for several reasons, one being I think the best revenge is knocking a guy up, hehe. But on a more serious note, I think that menpreg opens up doors that otherwise wouldn’t be explored in a male dominated storyline. The father/child relationship that a writer can nurture when the child is created of the mating couple is just different then when adding someone else to the mix. I would also like to comment that I was not offended by the question and there are many fandoms norms that I don’t get or like so being offended by someone not getting or liking menpreg would be hypocritical of me.

Hi there,

I realized this is an old thread, but perhaps someone is still receiving updates? This link is broken, so I am hoping for more information such as author and/or title so I can look. Wayback isn't being especially helpful either.

Thank you!
