This is a weirdly specific request, but there is a series of stories by Simon called The Other Foot Stories in which Brian falls in love with some one else.

I have found one story set in the same universe by another author called Ten Years Gone by Deb Tanner.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any other stories set in that universe or written as a fix to the original stories?

Mouse wrote one last year & posted on MW, but I don't think it got reposted after the crash and wasn't much of a fix if you ask me.

Just giving a warning, I found the series incredibly upsetting. It is well written, but I needed to buy stock in Kleenex ny the end of it.

I have to include my own warning about "The Other Foot" series. This story haunts me. I end up remembering parts of it at odd times. It's extremely well written, but B/J never get back together.

I liked Mouse's story. She has an LJ site but this story isn't posted yet. Maybe if you leave a comment on her site, she might repost it.

The last story killed me because I honestly think we were supposed to be grateful, but it made me feel like Justin had been used and abused his entire life. It was so disheartening.

All the stories are listed by numbers and unformatted, but a lot seemed to have survived the transfer.

I wrote Ten Years Gone and am actually working on an extended version of that story as well as a couple of others set in the same universe. I really did and still do enjoy Simon's series simply because it stirs up such strong emotions. Simon has read what I've written and has not objected to anything so far. I find it unfortunate that she no longer writes in the fandom other than the occasional drabble or challenge. I also wrote a poem (something I rarely do) called 'Look Into' which was inspired by reading Simon's stories as well as a few others who kept B/J apart for one reason or another.

I quite enjoyed Ten Years Gone, but it did leave me with so many more questions.

I'm glad you liked it. When I wrote it I wasn't really sure where I wanted to go with it, and I was already working on two other stories in the same universe. I became a bit anxious about it and decided to post it on my LJ as it was. And I'll admit I left myself with a lot of questions as well. It was a little while before I went back to it with an inspiration from my other fics as to where I wanted to go with the story. I'm hoping to post it on my LJ soon.

Your Ten Years Gone is awesome. It really kicks ass. I am so excited to hear you are writing an extended version and more in this universe. What great news!

I so hope you add to Ten Years Gone. It really left so many things unanswered.
While I enjoyed Simon's story, it left me in tears and mad at Brian.

Simon is one of the most amazing qaf writers I've read, and a genius at tearing your heart out. Between "Remission" and half of "The Other Foot," I couldn't read her anymore...it was just too much. Maybe one of these days I'll actually manage to finish the other half...

I know exactly what you mean. By the end of the Other Foot, I felt like I was in mourning.

The story clung to me with this miasma of hopelessness for a few days actually.

I know it's silly, but it still hurts to think about it too much. There's not a lot of fiction that can have that effect. Even the most angsty stories one eventually gets over, but Simon's just stays with you.

Incidentally, do you know what her name on LJ is?

And, I'm the same way about Simon's series. I love angst filled stories and I re-read her series a lot. But then I go over into her individual stories and read some of those and they always cheer me up, especially 'Company Picnic' and 'Fourth of July.'

I know what you mean. In fact, this fic and a 2-parter of Randall's (I forget the name of it right now), are two I wish I'd never read. I am astounded at just how distressing I find those two fics. ugh.

I completely agree with you. Part of my angst isn't due to Brian choosing someone else, it's that Justin never seemed to become strong and move on.

I actually wish there had been more sex between Brian and Steve. It would have made their love stronger in my mind. We only get the one chapter where they're in the Berkshires.

I feel, like you do, that Justin never had all of Brian's love for those last 20 years.

I joined the fandom long after "The Other Foot" series was first posted. Simon replied once to Mouse's fiction when it was on MW that she stopped writing QAF fic because people threatened her and flamed her after "Other Foot" was posted.
