alright, i went to the memories for high school AU and found some wonderful stories, so thank you all so much.
now i've remembered a story that i believe might be on midnightwhispers, which is being difficult as we all know, and i was wondering if there was another link and if this story was even finished.
they meet at summer camp, brian is a counselor, they get together but keep it a secret, and the last chapter i read, brian is asked to stay behind after breakfast by the camp leaders.
also, i believe in this one, chris hits justin over the head with a oar from a canoe. he doesn't die, just goes into the water and brian saves him.

OMG! I think you are describing the very first fanfic I stumbled upon. I hadn't discovered fandom, or fanfic, and I freaked out when I saw it (only read a small part of it). I couldn't believe people were mad enough to write and read stories about the QAF characters. How much things have changed LOL. I'll have to check it out when someone gives you the link, just for nostagia's sake.

haha, yeah, i remember when i first started reading fanfic, i stumbled upon an AU in which brian and justin had never gotten back together after ethan, and brian was dating someone else (i don't understand why i didn't stop reading there) but justin and him, of course, are always and forever drawn to each other and begin hanging out again only to have brian get into a car accident where he gets so injured in the face that he speaks like elmer fudd.

.....yeah, never really got how people could keep the boys apart or hurt them. now the angst is a drug.

I love this story so much and it does end at a good point but finishing it after 3 years seems unlikely. We can only hope for the best and enjoy the snippet we've been given.

Maybe this would be a good prompt for someone looking to write an AU?

i once tried to write an ending, just for myself, to another unfinished story i'd fallen in love with, but couldn't do it.

i think i read it twice when i read it, too. it's just so wonderful! i love their dynamic in it. it's such a shame when fantastic writer's don't continue writing.
