[identity profile] prairiecitygirl.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] getithere
Please let me know if I should pull this post if it doesn't belong in this forum...

Yesterday I stumbled across Brian and Justin Real Time Conversations on LJ here. I've just never run across this kind of interactive structure before in a "fic" (illiterate LJ user am I), and I was curious if anyone knew more about it (is it just one author, or a collaboration? will real-time events be reflected?).

Thanks!

Katy.

update [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire was kind enough to link to the author creating this RPG (and explain what a Role Playing Game was to me!)

I've been following [livejournal.com profile] bj_connect for quite a few months now. It's considered an RPG, or roleplaying game, and it's played out by [livejournal.com profile] galedreamer and [livejournal.com profile] mmmorpheusq. It does reflect some real-time events such as Thanksgiving, though I haven't ever seen them react to stuff like political happenings or anything like that. Here's more info (http://galedreamer.livejournal.com/75142.html).

There are other RPG's out there; a new one is currently playing out at [livejournal.com profile] briank_solo and [livejournal.com profile] justin_alone. Older ones include [livejournal.com profile] beyond_babylon and [livejournal.com profile] thefabtwelve. Have fun -- these things are very addictive. ;-)

I enjoy reading the bj connect LJ, but for whatever reason am uncomfortable with "Justin's" or "Brian's" LJ, where anyone can post.

It took me a long period of lurking before I was brave enough to post on either of their journals, and I still feel a little awkward sometimes. Reading the community is definitely the fun part, but I always read the individual journals as well because "Brian" and "Justin" often drop extra tidbits of info in their responses to the comments there. :-)

Well, Ive never heard of [livejournal.com profile] bj_connect but Ill totally check it out to see if its any good. :)
There have been other RPG's out there, the most popular being [livejournal.com profile] beyond_babylon.
Because of the great job and spot on characterzations there was a community started for the people who watched [livejournal.com profile] beyond_babylon to discuss. It was kinda a big deal. I think it was called yaddayadda. Either way the link is in BB user info. There were even icons made from the community. Good stuff.
