I'm still trying to get a feel for the Brian/Justin fandom, so I thought I'd ask - what fics should I be reading?  What are the fandom classics that everyone who even remotely is interested in the pairing should sink their teeth into?
Thanks for the help.

ETA: Lots o' links in the comments. :D  Thanks everyone!

OK, you must read everything by the following people, although I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot at the moment!

[livejournal.com profile] ragingpixie
[livejournal.com profile] bigboobedcanuck
[livejournal.com profile] plumsuede
[livejournal.com profile] severina2001
[livejournal.com profile] jane2005
[livejournal.com profile] rhihero_fic
[livejournal.com profile] myrna1_2_3

If you look at their user info you can find where the fic is. There are many more who are terrific in the fandom, but these are a few of my faves. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] xie_xie_xie
[livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain
[livejournal.com profile] sparkledark
[livejournal.com profile] knittedshadow
[livejournal.com profile] flashfly

You have to read The Abernathy Trilogy (http://deadfic.livejournal.com/tag/abernathy+trilogy), which for some reason my old link doesn't work, but on [livejournal.com profile] deadfic it is there. You have to go back in entries to the beginning, though.

OMG! I love you! I've been searching for this fic ever since I discovered that the link I had didn't work any more.

You should read How We Got Where We're Going by [livejournal.com profile] allie_quixotic. It is amazing!

Actually, all her fics are great.

I am aware of that... but their memories here serve as a fantastic archive of fic that newbies won't be able to access.

Netlagd (http://www.bjfic.net/main/viewuser.php?uid=1651) in my opinion is one of the best authors out there!

Myrna's "If You Needed Me" is here:
http://queerasfolk.wired-hub.net/home.html
Look for Myrna under fanfic authors.

Here is a WIP that isn't at the above site. "The One Where Justin is With Another Guy" Not finished, but it ends at a pretty good place.

Nobody does Brian & Justin voices better than [livejournal.com profile] xhaleslowly. He does short gapfillers & one shots mostly... but his voices are spot on IMO. It's totally his fault I'm here (I can not believe he hasn't been mentioned yet OMG!!)

so many of the rec'ed above are wonderful, xhaleslowly especially for me but if you go here http://community.livejournal.com/qaf_faves/ and join, these two ladies -- severina2001 and ayesakara -- are rec'ing their favs and their taste is fabulous.

Julad (http://yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/cat_qaf_us.html) is my all-time favorite. "The Importance of Being Brian", "Love of His Life", "The Sudden Stop" -- they're all so, so good.

Hi there :)

Strictly speaking, this post is a bit too general to fit our rules, but seeing as I was too late and now there's all those names and links up there, I'll leave it here. In general, I think a comm that would be good for questions like your one here is [livejournal.com profile] queerasfolkfans or [livejournal.com profile] babylonvip.

As to your question, most of the authors that are considered classic imo are the ones who started writing/wrote while the show was shot, so if I were you I'd start with all those who posted their stuff before 2005 (most of them are mentioned already). Added to those should be vamphile, xie-xie-xie, and [livejournal.com profile] darksylvia. If you want real in-character-fics, I'd go with the lists of authors the first two commenters here suggested. Just my two cents obviously, but not every good writer has a good understanding of Brian and Justin, too. Unfortunately.

Don't worry about it;) I'm sorry for having to tell you that in the first place, I don't like being a stickler for the rules to newbies :| Anyway, hope you enjoy your fic :D
