Looking for a story

I am looking for a story when Brian has an affair with a business associate when Justin is out of town. When Justin comes back, Brian tries to break it off with other guy, but he can't seem to let this person go. Justin and him have some kind of party and when Justin goes looking for Brian, he finds him and this other guy in the pantry kissing. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Ah, yes, Simon's fic. That was the first QAF story I ever read that made me angry when I finished it. I stuck with it throughout the whole nightmare, waiting for the happy ending that never came.

She's a good writer, but I really hated that fic.

Well, to be fair, there was an alternate version of the story that Margaret wrote with Simon's permission, which kind of alleviates the sting for anyone who suffered through Simon's fic.

So... if your curiosity gets the best of you, you can always read Simon's fic and then read Margaret's version. Here's a link to her version, which by the way is pretty good.

Were we reading the same story?

If I remember correctly, it gets to a point that makes you think there will be a happy ending, but ultimately, it's really not, because Brian is still sad and coping over losing Steve, and it's just really depressing all the way to the last chapter. It seemed like Brian only settled for Justin because Steve was no longer there.

Then the last chapter is a death!fic. :/

No happy endings in this fic, that I remember.

Yeah, I remember reading several chapters in, deciding it was completely ridiculous and that there was no way I could put up with it if there wasn't a happy ending since I didn't even find it believable to begin with, so I skipped to the end, read it, and was then just annoyed I had wasted any time reading it at all.

I agree with you whole-heartedly on this story and no alternative ending from anyone else could make it better for me. I felt like Justin was never really loved by Brian. I really like all of Simon's other stories (that I've read) but this one haunts me and only in a bad way.
