Justin pretends to be deaf or doesn't understand english

Hi everybody!
Does anybody recall a story where Justin pretends to be deaf or doesn't understand english? I'm not sure which case it was. Also in this story Brian finds out that Justin can actually understan him because he's speaking to him (sometimes even personal stuff because he thinks he can't understand him) and Justin smiles at something Brian says. I might be wrong but I think that Brian asks him something like "You can understand me can't you?"

In this story Justin doesn't pretend to be deaf or doesn't understand english it's because his brain doesn't interprets the sounds incoming or outgoing. He is communicating by writing and sign language and I think he can lip-reading.

This shows how terrible I am at this. There is a story out there where justin doesn't speak due to extreme shyness I believe. He's Lindsay's cousin or may be Em's. I remember she overhears him whispering to Gus.
Maybe someone can find it. I can't remember title or author.

It has a scene pretty much like you described. Justin is deaf in this one. Brian talks about himself while Justin is painting him. Brian believes that Justin can't paint and lipread at the same time.

That scene is in Sound of Silence, the one by Julesmonster that takes the idea for Actions Speak Louder and redoes it. I don't think Justin ever paints Brian in Draccone's fic. (If he does, I missed it.)

I had looked at that one and kind of discounted just because I couldn't find a part with Brian saying, "You can understand me can't you?" But there are parts where Brian is saying personal or romantic stuff and then says something like, "Boy, it's a good thing you can't understand me" lol, which may actually be what the OP was thinking of.

The last chapter has a line that says "I thought you didn't speak English"
