Hello :D
Just a quick reminder of the RULES. Yes, I'm a party pooper. Anyway...
Your searches should be specific. And I know that (sometimes) it can be really hard to tell just what exactly is meant by that.
You re-watched an episode and are wondering if there are gapfillers for a specific scene? YES.
You can only remember part(s) of a fic/maybe two fics you might be confusing and want to know which, possibly even find it again? YES.
You are looking for a working link to a fic you know author and title of, and google hasn’t worked? YES.
Others found the fic you were looking for and you don’t edit your post, and cannot even say thank you? NO.
You want funny, angsty, romantic, etc recs even though there are community memories and archives (e.g.
getithere,
get_it_there,
qaf_challenges,
qaf_retread,
queerasrecs, etc) you haven’t checked? NO.
You are bored and wondering if there’s fic in which Brian is arching his eyebrows and then smacks Justin on the ass before fucking him into the mattress before drinking coffee together at the kitchen counter? NO. Even if a post like that in your own LJ might be successful ;D
You cannot describe a fic in less than ten lines? USE AN LJ-CUT. Please.
I can tell you it will be much appreciated.
And as an aside on those posts where it’s hard to tell if they are specific enough or not: I’m more likely to delete such a post if it’s riddled with mistakes. And I don’t necessarily mean grammatical ones, but if you’re not able (or can’t be bothered?) to check your entry for spelling mistakes before you post it, or even have LJ do it, then I’m going to assume you didn’t bother to spend any time to look for the fics you want before you let others work for you either.
That’s all. I’m sure it sounds worse than it is. Basically, these aspects are all mentioned in the rules you read before joining this comm. Thanks to everyone who actually checks them before posting.
Harsh and “non-fun” as it may sound, sticking to the rules increases the chance people are actually reading your posts, hence increasing the chance you'll find what you’re looking for. Something we all profit from I should think.
As always, questions, concrit or complaints can be posted here (comments will be screened) or sent to seanmegansean at livejournal dot com.
Thanks for listening :D
