Maybe shouldn't be asking this here but I will delete if not appropriate. Someone recommended a fic that is on fan fiction.net. I always copy the stories I read to make it a Word Doc and then put it on my Kindle. I can never seem to copy text from that site. Is there a secret to this does anyone know? Any advice is truly appreciated.

Thank You all for your suggestions. I will definitely find one that works for me. Everyone is always so helpful on this site. You Rock!
Just wanted to add I used the FicSave site and it worked perfectly. Thank You all again.

i'm not sure about copying text, but have you tried this site - http://ficsave.com ? it allows you to save texts in ePub or MOBI, which can be later converted into something else if necessary, or maybe there are also other online text downloaders for ff.net, all it takes is look around :)

I feel your pain. I think they changed this a few years ago, and before then you could copy and paste chapters into a Word doc. Probably did it to avoid copying stories. (I could be wrong about that, though).

There IS a fan fiction downloader on the web specifically for Kindles only that might work. I can't attest to its efficiency, but it might be worth a try. Here's the link: http://fanfictiondownloader.net/webversion_kindle.php

Good luck. Hope it works! ~Kim

I have the FF downloader. It works fine.

Another step to aid that is to download Calibre. Calibre is a file converter that can convert to any format: epub (Nook) Mobi (Kindle), as well as PDF. The only thing it balks at is Word docs, but if you save the doc as RTF, it will convert it. So you can download from FFnet, then convert it to a different format if you need to.

Here's one I use all of the time and it has an option to save in 6 formats and you can email to your Kindle or regular email.

You can still copy from ff, they just made it harder to do so.

I use a website but if its just a one chapter story.

Start from the last line & highlight up as normal, the blue highlight doesn't come up anymore, but it will copy, all you need to do hover until you reach the the story's title, or if its a chapter hover on the settings A- A+ A.

That is when you'll see the blue and be able to click copy.

I also copy stories for personal reading only, otherwise I would go insane I have a 3 hour daily train commute.

Great Tip!

Thanks for this tip! I've just been trying it...and it works!!! I'm finding that even if I start highlighting (tho not showing in blue) in the 1st paragraph of the fic, up thru the A+ A- line (the only part, along with chapter selection, that shows blue highlighting), the whole chapter (thru the last word) will still paste in.
This is great. Thank you so much for sharing this.

With further experimentation I'm finding that in highlighting, while scrolling up, the 1st thing that shows up in blue is enough for it to work. For me, in a multi chapter fic, it's the 'Next' button (to the right of the chapter selection box). This way, the whole list of chapters (& the A+, A-, etc) doesn't get copied & pasted in.

p.s. for some reason ?? the A+, A- & 'fonts' line is showing as some kinda Chinese symbols for me right now. The width, spacing & contrast as empty square boxes...but they all still work for their purpose & say what they are in english when I hover the cursor over them.

The paragraph thing works that will save me a bit of time, thanks.

I did forgot to mention sometimes the formatting can be a little fickle.

Occassionally when I go to paste a command box error saying "This is not a valid selection". I use Microsoft office which has 3 pasting options, if that happens use the 3rd option. The 1st & 2nd wont work.

I think the other answers are better than mine but you can also save the page of the chapter and then open it in a word file.
