B/J Wed by Rev Tom in Babylon/Post 513 - B Pissed @ Michael About Gus/Mentally Healthy Anti-Lindsay

First, I have to say thank you to the Mods and Members for such an fabulous QAF Community on LJ!! I've been lurking for well over a month just wallowing in the beauty of the Tags Page. And to think... I thought I'd nearly run out of fics to read! Now if someone will put even HALF as much effort into the LJ Search Communities for BTVS, Numb3rs, NCIS and Criminal Minds!!

Anyway... on to my requests:

1. This is a specific fic. No idea of author, title or site. I just remember our boys get married on the Babylon dance floor by Reverend Tom. The whole family is there but they have no idea it's happening until it's already done. **FOUND!!! This is "Tenebrosity"**

2. Another specific fic. Same lack of author, title or site. It's definitely post series because Michael has gone to Toronto and told Gus he should call him Dad and to forget about Brian because Brian isn't a "real Dad." I'm fairly sure Brian attacks Michael at Deb's family dinner when he gets back from his own trip to Canada.  **FOUND!!! This is "The Keeping Series!!"**

3. Last request is for a fic type. (I've added a "spoiler block thingy" in this one because my request, while not intentionally, kind of ends up as character bashing. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed here but I really feel strongly about the subject. Please, if that is likely to offend you, don't open that section. You'll still get the general idea.) Anyway...

I'd like to read fics in which Lindsay's manipulation, self-centeredness, general greed and bitchiness is not explained away by some variation of mental disorder or just a need for therapy. I'll admit that she did appear more than a little bi-polar during Season 5 but, when combined with her actions prior to that, I just don't buy it. And let's face it, therapy only works for someone willing to admit to being wrong and compromise... neither of which describe the Lindsay I saw in canon.


My problem with the majority of anti-Lindsay fics are too many authors using the excuse of mental health issues. I just feel like it's a cop-out that is really overused... although my opinion on this is LARGELY colored by the real life mental health issues that plague my family every day. Canon-Lindsay isn't Bi-Polar, Depressed or suffering from low self-esteem. Canon-Lindsay, IN MY OPINION, is a self-centered, spoiled, manipulative princess who can't handle being told "no."


That's the Lindsay I'd like to see taken down a few pegs in a few fics!! I've read everything by Julesmonster and Wren who both do a really good job in their fics. **Recs made in comments! More are, of course, welcome!!**

Umm... do you mind if I request one last thing? It goes fairly well with #3 above. I'd love to read some fics in which Justin gets to really lay in to Lindsay for the previously mentioned "character flaws."  :P  I'm not sure I've EVER read one where he just finally lets her have a piece of his mind (like he did with poor little Mikey in Rizabeau's "That Happy Feeling" and Wren's "Reverberations.") He comes close several times (usually it ends up as almost a gentle, but firm scolding). I want to see her floored after getting verbally flayed alive.

No... I've read that one a couple times and that wedding has everyone seated in Babylon during an actual ceremony. And I don't think Tom officiated in Edom's fic. Thanks though!!

I get nervous when I see a post that takes up more than one whole computer screen, lol. But your subject line is so beautifully detailed, and you've stuck to the no more than 3 requests rule (that "one last thing" definitely counts as part of #3), so I have zero complaints!

I think you're fine with some light character-bashing, as long as you didn't, say, insult someone who did a post saying they loved her and asking for Lindsay fics. No reason to hold back your opinions when they inform your request!

Not sure if there's a Justin telling her off portion, but I'd rec sapphire3's The Temptation of Snakes (http://sapphire-3.livejournal.com/17193.html#cutid1) for a good anti-Lindsay fic. Brian develops an eating disorder post-513, with Justin and Gus both gone, Lindsay is found to be the cause of it all, and Brian (with Emmett) goes to Canada to tell her she pretty much did her best to destroy his life.

You know, it's funny... I think I've read everything from Sapphire3 with the exception of "The Temptation of Snakes." I don't know why, but sometimes, I'll find a fic that (for no apparent reason at all) I'll avoid reading until I just can't hold off any longer. This is one of those.

I'll admit that my fic reading quirks are many.

It comes up pretty often on this site as a recommendation so I may just have to go ahead and end my self-inflicted torment. Especially since I now know that it holds my Lindsay request. And even if it's not Justin doing the flaying... well, Emmett would be the next best thing. Thanks!

This is definitely the one. Since it's not written in chronological order, it took me a minute to be sure but this is it (chapter 7, btw). Honestly, I'm almost sad about that. Don't get me wrong... "Tenebrosity" is one of the most beautifully written angst fics I have ever read. It's just that it holds me on the edge of despair from the word "GO." And when I know beyond a doubt that a fic is going to rip my heart out (even on a 2nd read-through), I have to wait until I actually need a good cry before I can even look at the contents page. I can't think about Wrenlet's "Reaper Boy" or Q_Dicted's "Valediction" without hyperventilating either.

*shakes head* Yeah.. read my comment above about my fic habits. I embrace my many and varied quirks.

Anyway, thanks a TON for finding this for me!

I'm pretty sure "Incomplete" by Anwamane http://midnightwhispers.ca/viewstory.php?sid=300 would be a good story for #3. At one point Brian does think she may be bipolar but it's a passing comment. And I'm pretty sure both Justin and Brian give her a piece of their minds (at least a little).

"The Gus Diaries" by ShadowNYC http://www.mags-nificent.com/MSW/ShF/Gus.htm *may* also fall under your requirements for #3. I know Lindsay goes a little crazy in that story but I can't remember how her craziness is dealt with TBH.

#2 sounds kind of like part of Keeping It Together, from vamphile's Keeping series. Gus goes missing, Brian goes to Toronto to find him, and it turns out Michael had called and told Gus Brian was moving to NY to be with Justin and wouldn't have time for Gus anymore but he could come live with Uncle Mikey if he wanted. He was trying to use Gus to make Brian not move, and Gus had tried to run off to NY, and Brian gets understandably super pissed at Michael and stops speaking to him.

I know it's in Aly's 4-shared mirror, probably our fic folder as well, though the entire series is in one document so it's rrreally long. KIT starts 550 or so pages in, and the part about Michael and Gus is 700+ pages in.

YES! YES! YES! That was it! Would have responded sooner but it had been a very long time since I'd read it and I just could NOT pull myself away! And it's funny because I was just about to post a search for fics with a couple of other scenes from that one!

I love that the whole series downloaded into 1 document! Makes reading any series more pleasurable to not have to stop after each part. *ridiculously happy sigh*
