Season 5 AUs

Hey! So I desperately need fix-it fic for s5 because the breakup just feels so incredibly out of character to me that it hurts. I've re-read all the common ones that come up in the tags (i.e. Wren's) but I really want one that doesn't just gloss over the bombing.

I want to see what it would have been like if Brian and Justin had been together during the bombing. Would Brian have stayed and gone to Babylon? Maybe one of them gets injured instead of Mikey? They both become incredible clingy afterwards? Justin's basing related ptsd is triggered?

Anything that helps me make sense of s5 would be wonderful, thanks so much!

EDIT: Some suggestions in comments!

It always seemed strange to me, too! I used to think Brian didn't like watching someone top Justin... and then that remark about 'four weeks' - so weird and insensitive. But I really liked that one shot - I wish we saw somehting like this in canon!

As for your search, I've recently seen a story 'Breaking away', it's s5 AU. Don't know the author, but you can find it in Aly's GIH 4-Shared Mirror, in 'By titles' category. I haven't read this story yet, but it's long and seems to fit your description.

Then, 'Incediary' by Kimberley - AU s5 http://www.mags-nificent.com/MSW/KimF/Incendiary.htm Fantastic story! Though maybe you've already read it.

There is also one great story that isn't realy what you're looking for, but close enough. Post 511, 'Choices' by England13 - you can find it in Aly's GIH 4-Shared Mirror Fire at Babylon is also present there.

I hope some of it would help!

This story has been in the back of my mind for months -- I couldn't remember title or author.

Thank you! :-)

Breaking Away is of course particularly unique in that it was fully posted here at LJ long before season 5 originally aired on Showtime. B.A. posted Aug. 13 thru Nov. 5, 2004 - season 5 was May 22 thru Aug. 7, 2005. I think all that was really known at the time was that it was contracted to be 13 episodes.
