It is with a heavy heart that I post the news that [livejournal.com profile] epicallytired, aka Vamphile passed away this weekend. I don't have any details, and just heard about it today.

I'd like to use this post, if I may, for our community to reminisce about our favorite fics of hers, or any memories you have. I'll start with one of my favorite lines for her fic, Keeping It Together.

They were finally alone for a few minutes. Aaron had stopped in to make sure they were okay and was waiting for Brian in the lounge. The nurses had all cleared out for the moment. It was just the two of them.

“This is it.”

Brian nodded.

“You okay?”

“Not me having this done.”

“I’m okay.”

“Okay.”

“You know I love you right?”

“Cut it out.”

“Brian.”

“No. No goodbyes. I’ll see you in a couple of hours.”

“But if you don’t…

Justin was staring at him and saw that there were tears in his eyes. He wanted to change the topic but he couldn’t. He had to say this. “Do me a favor?”

Brian nodded.

“If I don’t. Seriously. If something goes wrong. I need you to do this again.”

“Do what?”

“This. Love. Let someone love you.”

“Fuck you.”

“I mean it Brian.”

“So do I. Fuck you.”

“But if I’m not here.”

“Then that’s it, but you keep talking like this and I’m calling the whole fucking thing off. I’ll see you in a couple of hours. You don’t believe that, they’re not even allowed to start.”

“I know. I’ll be fine. I know that. I just need to hear you promise.”

“Then we’re going home now.”

“Brian.”

”I’m not gonna start lying to you now. You want me to promise I’ll put myself through this again. Bullshit. Once. You. So I’ll see you in a couple of hours.”

“Okay.”

“Justin.”

“Yeah?”

“I do love you. Can’t love anyone else. Don’t ask me to.”

“Okay.”

The nurses came in and were about to inject something into the IV. “Wait.”

They looked up at Brian. He leaned down and gently brushed his lips against Justin’s. “Couple of hours. Okay?”

“Later.”

Brian smiled a little. “Later.”

Later, Vamp. We love you.

A sad day for the fandom and, I'm certain, for all who knew and cared about Vamphile.

Safe journey and sweet rest, Vamphile. Thank you.

Vamp was one of the first writers I found here in the QAF Fandom. I loved her writing style.

Her "Keeping" series is epic and like Red, Keeping It Together Stands out in my mind right now. I found one of my favorite passages.

“The surgery was a success we think. We’ll know more when he’s alert and can respond to directions.”

Brian said nothing. Justin was still alive. He breathed shallowly. He needed to fucking see the kid.

When they finally did let him in Aaron hung back and Brian walked slowly into the room. The ventilator hissed each time Justin’s chest rose. He took Justin’s hand and just stared at him.

Bandage around his head. IV tube still dripping something. Tube down his throat, but fuck, the kid had no gag reflex, unless they gave him one back. Brian laughed to himself and Aaron shook his head. Brian glared and sat down next to Justin holding his hand. He didn’t move again.

He fell asleep somewhere after nine. Something woke him at ten.

“Justin?”

“I’m sorry sir, visiting hours are over.”

“Not fucking moving.”

“Sir, I’m going to have to ask you to leave please.”

“Not leaving.”

The nurse was about to call security when Justin’s eyes fluttered. Brian squeezed his hand. “Hey.”

Justin tried to talk but the tube was still down his throat. “Good thing you still have no gag reflex huh?”

Justin coughed out a small laugh and his eyes opened a little wider and Brian breathed. For the first time since they’d wheeled him out he breathed. “They’re kicking me out. I’ll be back in a few hours. Sleep.”

Justin nodded.

“You hurt?”

Justin nodded. Brian hit the nurse call button and was greeted by the woman in bright pink scrubs and two security guards.

“I’m leaving. He’s in pain. Fix that.”

The nurse nodded and Brian brushed by the uniformed men. “Aaron. Let’s go. We’ll come back in the morning.”

“But…”

“I know but visiting hours are over.”

“Is he gonna be okay?”

Brian shrugged. “He’s getting hospital grade heroin at the moment. Even if he’s not… he won’t care.”

Sleep peacefully Vamphile.

She was a truly gifted writer. Her drabble epic, "Whore in a Hoodie" never ceases to amaze me. All 800 parts...

Justin zipped up the black hoody, crossing his arms against the cold. His ears were burning from the icy breeze but he didn’t want to pull the hood up. He knew that his blond hair was a huge selling point. He stamped his feet a few times trying to regain feeling in his toes. A black jeep drove by. He took a provocative stance and smiled. Blinking from under his lashes, then raising his head to make eye contact. The jeep stopped and he approached the driver. Unzipping his sweatshirt he leaned against the window and licked his lips. “Hey.”

Two

Brian watched the blond kid sidle up to his window. He couldn’t be over fifteen. His nose was red, his eyes were blue and Brian leaned over to open the door. “Hey.”
The kid sat down, holding his hands in front of the heater, drawing his knees up practically wrapping himself in the black hooded sweatshirt. Brian turned the heat up a little higher.
“You can park around the corner. The cops don’t bother us too much there.”
“How much for the night?”
“Huh?”
Brian moved his face closer to the blond’s. “Is that a particularly difficult question?”
“Three Hundred.”

Three

Justin couldn’t believe his luck. The guy wasn’t even balking. This time the smile wasn’t for show. He relaxed back in the seat and almost chuckled as the man leaned over him to fasten his seatbelt. Well, apparently requiring safety wasn’t gonna be an issue.
Justin watched their route, making sure he knew how to get back. The man was drumming his fingers on the steering wheel and occasionally glancing in his direction. Several times he’d looked like he was about to say something. He never did.
Justin followed him up to a huge loft. He shrugged off his sweatshirt.

Four

Brian watched as the kid took off his hoody and then reached for the hem of his shirt. Brian stopped him. “What’s your name?” He looked startled. Brian waited, staring.
“Justin.”
Brian nodded. Not offering his name in return. He held out a tab of E but the kid shook his head. Brian shrugged and swallowed it himself and then moved closer to the boy, pulling him forward, covering his mouth, sucking his tongue, and running his fingers through that blond hair he’d been itching to touch since he’d seen it under the streetlight.
It was softer than he’d expected.

Peace to her.

So very sad. As a fan of both QAF and J2, she was just a mesmerizing author in both. She will most certainly be missed for her heart, compassion, creativity and love. There were so many fics of hers that I loved, but one of my favorites was a J2 fic called Owner Surrender. It's the cutest fic, so realistic and perfectly penned. Truly a sad loss. RIP

The first fic that I read from her was "Whore in a hoody". I cried from the beginning till the end. It was like with every word she was cutting
through my flesh. I don't know he I'll ever read it again.
To painful. To real.
I am an atheist, I do not believe in life ever after. I only hope that she knew how much we loved her writings and her funny, smarty, witty mind.

She will be missed.
