1. Justin has had a relationship with a female friend (not Daphne) resulting in a baby boy.  The girl dies somehow and he lands up with the baby, his parents aren't very happy and make him stay in his room.  Eventually he leaves and goes to live with Debbie but he’s always worried about money.  I think he finds out in the last few chapters that his sons been left a load of money from the baby’s grandfather?  I know Daphne is in the story because she babysits when Justin goes out.  I also remember Justin needing to buy winter clothes for his son but not having the money.

2.I’m not sure if this is a line from the same story or another one, but Brian has taken Justin and his son for food in the Diner but Justin only orders one meal for him to share with his son.  Brian says something like “ and next time order two meals, I can afford it”

Any of this ringing a bell with anyone?  I tend to go from one site to the next and forger where I read these great stories!

Thanks for the help.

Warning: The story "ends"--as it were--with a cliffhanger. It may officially be "complete", but it feels like a permanently unfinished fic.

I kinda disagree with that. To me it seems to come full circle in that it links back up to season one canon. I kind of like how you can interpret the ending in any way you please, almost like a choose-your-own-ending book :)
Then again, that's just my personal opinion *shrugs*

I agree that it does bring us right up the Season 1 ending, but in canon, there was a Season 2. Breakneck leaves us never knowing what happens to Justin. Someone people might like deciding for themselves what the ending will be, but many other people want an ending. And given how many people on [livejournal.com profile] getithere complain about unfinished WIP's, I think there's a fair number who'd like being warned that Breakneck doesn't tell us what happens.

I Just want to interject an opinion, which is something I never, NEVER do, unless to say how I loved a story. I followed Breakneck religiously, and I started feeling unsure of the story. Then when it got towards the end, I didn't want to read anymore, but, I forced myself to finish. It was like a premonition. I should have listened. I cried off and on for about a month every time I thought of that story. I couldn't even bring myself to WATCH QAF, or even do my BETA work. That story royally, mentally and physically, broke me. Sure it might be like a "choose-your-own-ending book"... but, every time I tried to look at it positively, I couldn't fathom it. WHY???? Because throughout the WHOLE story, every time the author let something good happen to Justin, it was like "One Step Forward, and Two Steps Back". HOW CAN YOU PROJECT POSITIVE FEELINGS FROM A STORY LIKE THAT????

I swore I would never tell this to another person. I wanted so bad to write the author, but as Debbie told Justin, "I'll rip you a new one...", and I was afraid I might say something I really should have not. I get most of the stories I read off of "getitthere", and I NEVER expected to see a request for this one. Because Deep Down, I know the author would of had him die! WHO COULD EVER WANT TO READ THIS STORY?????

I probably over-stepped my boundaries, and this is probably NOT where I should have left this comment. I am sorry if I have done something wrong here. But... Just the thought of somebody willingly WANTING to read this story... Well, my heart is thumping radically in my chest right now, and I am shaking so bad I can hardly type.

I accidentally read a death fic one time that didn't have a warning, and swore I'd never read another. I've even written authors if I am not sure. I'd rather read "3" death fics compared to this "1" story. Just my opinion.

The fact that this story affected you so deeply shows how well it was written and the authors ability to make the reader invested in her portrayal of the characters. It may have been discomfiting for you to read but for a story to have had this great of an effect on anyone reading it is a double-edged compliment to the author...kind of like the denial of when JKRowling killed Snape

Pleeeaaassse! IMO... THAT was NOT a compliment to the author. I literally hated the story. I just kept hoping she would make it all better. And, I read it on MW, and there was NO COMMENT posted about the EPILOGUE!!!

I read it this weekend, and am so very thrilled to have been warned off the epilogue! The first 17 chapters made for a very satisfying read and seemed absolutely complete. Now, I appreciate mysid's warning even more.

Actually Methyethyl posted a future story of the Breakneck 'verse just yesterday. It's called 'The Adventures of Twat-Head and the Kapooie Boy'. And she revealed, that she likes to think, that Justin survived the attack.

All is well. :)

I was actually a bit surprised by your "warning," as I devoured this Fic as it was being posted and honestly couldn't remember feeling in any way dissatisfied with the ending. So I just went back and re-read it. I still like the ending and do consider it complete. Rather than a cliffhanger, it's more of a "leave it to the readers' interpretation" kind of ending. And I found it completely satisfying and whole.

However, the author has suggested that if you don't like the "open ending" type of story, don't read the epilogue. The other chapters do stand on their own.

Still a GREAT read!

I agree; it is a great read, and I devoured every chapter.

However, the "ending" is a cliffhanger in that we don't know what happens next. If you like not knowing and deciding for yourself, great. If you feel like you'll be frustrated by that--and enough people on [livejournal.com profile] getithere complain about unfinished WIP's that I think many people will be frustrated--a warning is justified.

Please go back to the comments posted a day after yours, and please read them. I started quite the discussion, as that story put me in turmoil. I wouldn't mind your input. Thanks!

Thanks, all, for this discussion (warning). I'm anti-open-ended/cliffhanger-stories, so will skip the epilogue.

Off to read!
