Suit or Tux?

I'm trying to write a fic where I refer to the prom, but I'm unsure about something, when Brian walks in to the prom is he wearing a suit or a tuxedo? I think it may be a tux but the reasonable side of my brain wonders where he would get a tux from on short notice and there's the fact that he has suits at his loft which would just be there for the taking, I can't rewatch the episode to find out right now so can anyone tell me, please?

It is a suit.

I agree with you.

This is Brian Kinney. He probably owns one, just for the rare work function he would need one for. After all, Brian Kinney wouldn't wear a rental, and he would want it to be tailored to fit him properly (ignoring that on the show the suits they put on Gale often didn't fit him quite properly).
:)

The worst suit they put in him was that black and pink number that looked like he was wearing PJ's under a suit jacket. They used it in two scenes. When Brian went to invite David to Michael's Birthday, and when Brian was talking about fucking the tire guy, when he and Michael were in the jeep.

I always took it for a tux. He combined it with the white scarf, which is a classic thing to do, also I think I remember something shiny along the lapel. And I agree, he would own one.

Yeah, I always thought the shiny lapels made it a tux, but I don't know.

Nope.

Shiny lapels are usually done, but not always. (http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=685&q=tuxedo&gbv=2&oq=tuxedo&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql=1&gs_sm=c&gs_upl=2831l4627l0l7520l6l6l0l1l1l1l436l1531l2-3.1.1l5l0) Check out the top right pic.

Daphne says it's a tux when she & Brian are helping Justin with his memories of the prom. Does that help?

I don't know for sure what he wore to the prom, but I'm positive that as someone who attended a lot of business functions and CLIO awards ceremonies and such, Brian would have owned a tux...very expensive and definitely designer.

I agree, I totally see Brian owning one or two. And they would have to be designer.

It's a tux, just not a traditional one. You're thinking cummerbund and bowties, like Justin was dressed. Think about the Oscars, where the men wear various styles of tuxes. And actually, Brian had the bowtie, he just didn't tie it.

Also, Brian would definitely have a tux, if not two. He was a senior ad exec, and entertained clients all the time. Also, he attended the Clio Awards (remember 120?), which is a big deal in advertising.

on the basis that he had a dark (red-ish?) bowtie draped around his neck, I vote tux.
you can really see the bowtie when he's getting out of the ambulance: http://youtu.be/oI28LNfzeJ0

Might be totally irrelevant, but what about the Melanie's "sperm donor contest" dream? Is that the same tux, or even a tux at all?

But regardless, I would certainly think Brian would own his own tux...
