For future reference, I couldn't recommend megaupload enough. Unfortunately, they've changed their currency to Euros so it's more expensive than it's ever been at close to $300 US but once you've paid that? It's paid. You keep your files forever with no deletion. I've always found 4share and other sharing servers extremely difficult and not consumer friendly. megaupload hasn't let me down in the years I've been using it. One permanent payment is all it takes to store your files forever.

Yes, definitely! If there's a possibility of losing files because of non-payment? That's a terrible server. There's no reason to ever lose your files. Sure, nothing's really ever safe on the internet but choose the provider that's going to give you the best for your money and megaupload has been proven to stand the test of time. I joined back in 2007 and have used nothing else.

I have a lifetime membership with MU, but I'm not honestly sure how long her videos would last in there. They have a policy against any video and/or picture that might depict pornography. That being said, I am a member of Aarinfantasy (http://aarinfantasy.com/), and they have a bunch of their yaoi (male/male) videos uploaded for viewing and downloading in MU. . . so yeah, I'm guessing that as long as you know how to "hide" the content of the video, then you might not encounter any problems.

Also, they have different types of rules.

- For example, if you're a Premium user, any and all uploads will last for as long as your account is open.

- If you're a regular user, but just a subscriber, then your uploads will last for up to 90 days from the last day that they are downloaded.

- If you are an anonymous user, meaning you don't have an account with them, then any uploads will last for up to 21 days from the last time that they are downloaded.

How strictly enforced the above rules are, I have no idea. I can honestly say that my previous MU account was a regular one, and I can still see the upload links of stuff that I put up like 5 years ago, with no downloads shown for the last 2 years... so yeah.

Megaupload though is the best server that I've found thus far. They have a total of 15 services that they provide! Amongst them, they have file sharing, video sharing, and pic sharing, which would be what I'm guessing is what she needs at the moment.

At any rate, she can open a free account with them, upload her stuff in there as a backup while she works to solve the issue on her other account. And even afterwards, it's always good to have some kind of backup of your data in different servers, this way if one fails, you know you still have the other one standing :).

Well, I once had a paid premium account on Megaupload/Megavideo and they threw me out in 2007, deleted all my files and baned me from their site!!Said that I am producing gay porn...PFFT!! ;-)

If you use an anonymous referrer that hides your links and change your file names, it's unlikely that they can kick you out for any strange activity since they don't know what those files are referring to. You can probably get back on now using different information. They're still the best site to go to that offers fast downloads and as long as you keep your links hidden, it's unlikely they'll delete anything.

Must be. Does it automatically shut down? Sometimes it takes a few times for me to get an upload started. I can't think of any other server that won't delete your files if you don't renew so it's a shame you can't use this one.

Yeah, that's what I thought would happen. I read over their policy, and thought you probably would be able to get by with the pics, but the videos ... not so much :{ . Though it's kind of funny, that there's a bunch of yaoi vids swimming around there that are pretty hard core and have never been pulled down.

I honestly think it's all about how well you hide the video. I've seen all the GLEE seasons uploaded into MU, but they're named the most absurd thing. One episode was seriously named "Granny cooking chicken pot pie"!! :D!

Have you thought about getting your own website? I know that for the same price of a lifetime membership in MU, you can get a decent website that allows you to upload vids, pics, and files directly from your computer to the website, without having to go through random servers. You can even edit the website to make certain pages password protected. This way, you share the password in your LJ, and you know that only people who actually want to see the website will be able to access your stuff.
