Kindle question

I import everything into Calibre and then export files onto my Kindle from Calibre, too, so I don't know how you get mobi fics you download onto your hard drive from the DL folder or AO3 or wherever, over to your Kindle. Can someone tell me, please? Thanks!

If you're interested in simply converting from one format to another and then just adding that file to your e-reader, this converter might do the trick for you.

If you want software that converts and manages your e-book/e-fic collection regardless of type of reader, Calibre might be a program that would be useful.

Connect your Kindle to the computer using the USB cord it came with. An AutoPlay window should come up when the computer detects the Kindle. Click "Open folder to view files". Then open the folder called "documents". Drag and drop your fic files to this folder. When you're done make sure you eject your Kindle before disconnecting it from the computer. There should be an option down on your task bar at the bottom of the screen to "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media". Right click it and select "Eject Amazon Kindle". You're done.

I don't know if it's different in different countries but here in the UK I just tend to send them to my Kindle email address and Amazon then sends them wirelessly (and free!) to my Kindle. There is also the ability to send other formats beyond pdf and mobi but these they charge you for as they convert them for you to mobi.

Thank you so much for this post, I learned so much!! I've only ever emailed fics to my Kindle so all the advice here was brilliant.

I would just like to give a huge Thank You to Courtney. Her kindness and excellent instructions helped me a great deal. I finally learned how to transfer fics to my Kindle. Since B/J fics are my biggest guilty pleasure I really appreciate all the help she gave to me. And they say you can't teach old dogs new tricks. LOL
