Often a fic has it's "thing", a specific detail (or even a distinctive feature sometimes) that makes it differ from other fics. Can anyone suggest fics that stand out as "realistic" fics. I mean there are plenty of fics that are fairy tale or love-novel like in style and plot (and I'm very much enjoying them. But) I'm now looking for fics that
1) reveal characters not by explaining their motives through their explicit thinking or talking but mostly implicitly via their behavior and previous experience.
2) just for "some reason" impressed you as "realistic" in style and plot.
Thanx

UPDATE:
* Queer Theories by Gaedhal The fic is very long, but the QAF is a long movie too, and the fic is just as good as the QAF is.
* RPS by xhaleslowly (Start from the bottom story, it's in a sequence. And be warned it's porn).

realistic fics

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but at the moment I'm totally hooked on Queer Identities by Gaedhal.

She,to me, writes really good fics.

Try the link:

She writes, in my opinion,, really good fics.
Maybe a bit AU but still in canon. And really a long read.

Hey,
What Do I like about this story?
Phew!! Where to begin.
This story has a complex story line which I always like. There are flashbacks and insights in characters. Not the usual stuff you have in fanfic. Deep thoughts and character studies. Most fanfic is rather flatly written, these stories aren't.
2. The 'thing" to me in this story is the way it is written. I keep coming back to Gaedhal's stories because she writes about humans and not some fairytale characters.
Her stories are gritty, funny, painful, full of emotions and feelings.
She writes with feeling and intelligence. And the way she writes around lyrics is never disturbing. They are a part of the chapter they are in. I for one never knew Bob Dylan wrote such moving lyrics. So here you are:I even learnt some things from her fics.
I stumbled upon Gaedhal's fic's via her Angelstream and fell in love with it. So soon after that I started on one of her other stories. Then just out of curiosity I started on QT and after the first chapters shied away from them. But they kept haunting me and I started reading again. And now I'm completely hooked on them. I don't know if this is an encouragement to start reading them. Maybe you should try her Angelstream first to get a used to her style of writing.
She writes in a more literature style than the most fanfic writers I read but to me she's like a breath of fresh air.

So, if you're up for some serious and something disturbing and moving reading I would say go ahead.

I'm glad I could help out and hope you this reply helps you out.
