LJ's Response: Front Page Question

Navigation options are now back to normal.

On the 19th, someone requested that "justin gets raped by Lindsay" fic and once they were given a link to the fic, they deleted their LJ and elected to have all their entries removed.

LJ Support said that that election when they were deleting their LJ is why the comm's navigation options didn't work. They gave me an "lj-lite" link where I could still see the post and I was able to delete from that link. I coulda sworn I deleted her post as soon as I found out her LJ was deleted, but I guess I didn't.

This was a first for me; I know full well other people have deleted their LJs who were members of this comm, but I guess those other deleted LJs left existing community posts alone. I have no idea what options there are when deleting a journal. Just thought the response was interesting and not something that would have ever occurred to me.

Bottom line is we're back to navigating normally. Thanks, LJ Support!

Try looking in the "Customize Your Theme" in the Customize Journal Style section for the community. In the "Text" area check if the "Text to show in a link to skip back through entries" is blank. You can input the number of entries to show when you go backward and forward. If it's blank, that's probably why it isn't showing up here. Worth a shot!

It's always been set to show 40, but I'll check to see if somehow it's gone missing. Thanks for the hint!

Those were good ideas, but they didn't change anything. I compared it with my personal LJ as most of the layout is identical. Nothing's been deleted from the comm's settings and I can go earlier in my personal LJ, so there's a glitch somewhere, but I don't think it's where I can correct it.

There is no way to see previous entries.

It was not like that a few days ago. I was up here scrolling through entries Friday I think, and it was fine.

I haven't been able to go backwards without going to the Archive in at least a week. This happened once before and I don't remember how it got fixed, but it did.

Same here, I was wondering where the line "go earlier" is all I can see on the bottom is "viewing most recent entries".

The only way to see the earlier entries right now is to go to the Archive and click View Subjects for the month view.

Actually, you can go back manually by adding /?skip=10 (or 20, or 30) to the end of the url.

It's a temporary fix for sure, but it works for me.

Yep, you're right. I'd forgotten about that option. I used to do that on my own LJ until I figured out I could show more than 10 or whatever amount of entries is the default. Thanks for the reminder!

Hello! I'm one of the mods over at lure_atwt, and we're having the same issue! It does make me feel a bit better to know that I've not changed something inadvertantly.

I've put in a support request -- do you remember about how long it took for them to respond?
