Are there any fics out there about the history of Brian's bracelet?
I've read one, about he buys it from a lady who tells him each of the shells represented something about Brian and the last one was something of his choosing, or something like that. Are there any more?

PS. Speaking of the bracelet, for Gale fans who've seen Wake, the character April wears his bracelet in the movie.

Rec's in comments!

The fic you're referring to is "Cowry" by luceononuro, right?

In my "Send me an angel" series, a couple of chapters talk about the bracelet's history.

It's in Part 1 (Never is a Promise):

it ends with Brian tossing the bracelet into to river.

I never noticed that about April in Wake!

I mean...do you know if it was that exact bracelet? The cowry shell bracelets are not exactly uncommon. I have a couple of them, actually. But either way, that's a pretty cool little trivia fact. :)

Doubt it. IIRC, that bracelet belonged to Gale, and when they started selling them everywhere (I got one off Ebay), he quit wearing it. Last time onscreen was 304.

I said "if I recall correctly". It was either something I read or something that came up in conversation. I do know that when extras on set for the Babylon scenes started wearing them, Gale didn't want to anymore, he felt it was a symbol for Brian.

Yeah, he stopped wearing it. I got my first one before I even started watching QAF. I got one at Pride a few years ago...not sure if it had anything to do with him or not though. It's pretty funny how his own personal bracelet became a sort of status symbol for the Brian Kinney character. :)

My brother had one back in the '70s (Thank you David Cassidy).

I remember a gay Bachelor type show a few years back...instead of giving roses, they gave out Brian bracelets...so yep, iconic!

You mean Boy Meets Boy? Where that guy had to pick a man to be with, but he didn't know that half the men were gay and half were straight?

I remember the show, but I don't remember the bracelets. Maybe it's a different one. Not sure how I could've missed that! :)
