Hi i am new and have been told maybe you can help, i am looking for a fic that had brian married to someone other than justin. this man and brian break up and just and brian get together then justin find brian kissing said ex in the kitchen closet all hell breaks loose but in the end B and J live happy ever after.

PLEASE does this ring any bells

Honeybun, if it's the one I'm thinking of - it's a very long series, and you will need to be able to bear a world of Justin without Brian, until the end.

In this fic, Brian is sent to NY to head up a new branch of the agency and meets someone else, but he chooses Justin who joins him and they set up a life together until…. Justin finds Brian kissing the guy in the kitchen closet, and they break up.

It was one of the very first fics I read a very long time ago and my tastes may be a little different now, but at the time, I enjoyed the experience of reading it. I love Brian&Justin, but I love Brian first and foremost so I was able to cope. Although I shed bucketloads for Justin (and you'll find out why), Brian was really happy in his new relationship and it was solid and long-lasting. You're right that they end up together, but I wouldn't call it a typical "happily ever after".

Most B&J fans either won’t go anywhere near this fic, or loathe it if they do, because it does treat Justin rather shabbily. I struggled a bit with that aspect of it - of Justin losing Brian, and having a difficult life whilst he was without him.

This story was inspired by Simon's 'Other Foot' series, particularly the first two stories. In Simon's series, Brian moves to New York and has an affair with the new business partner Steve. He breaks it off to be with Justin and for awhile they seem happy. Steve comes back and Brian decides that it's Steve that he wants. Justin is shattered; Brian moves in with Steve. Justin is spiraling downward into Brian's old pain management techniques. Brian gets a call about it and goes to check up on Justin for the first time since it happened. Justin is in class at school in New York when Brian shows up and tells him to get a grip, that he is with Steve and that isn't going to change. That he does still care for him but as a friend. That part of the story ends with Justin watching Brian walk away from him. Here is where Margaret story and Simon's go off in totally different directions.
