I just remembered this story that I read a few months ago but I can't remember the name. Maybe someone can help me. It starts out when Brian is a really young kid, like 7 or 8. Claire and Brian somehow get acquainted with their neighbor who is older. He has a cottage in his backyard and allows Claire and Brian to use it. He eventually gives Brian a job on his construction crew when he is old enough and pays for his college education. He calls him Bear and he is like Brian's replacement dad. He eventually meets Justin and brings him home to meet Brian.
