The Present
I’m here but not a part of my body. I’ve always known my life would end early. My father and daddy, yes, I said *father
and daddy* once took me to this carnival. There was a fortuneteller and I just had to have my fortune told. I remember
standing in line under the hot sun for my chance to go inside her tent. She was an old wrinkled lady dressed in bright
colored clothes her arms, neck and ears adorned with bright gold jewelry. Her dark hair sprinkled with gray strands and
her eyes were deep---penetrating. Being in her presence was both scary and exhilarating. The moment she took my
hand I could tell something was wrong. Her eyes clouded over and the look on her face as she held my hand something
about my aura foretold a future for me that was far from *happy ever after. * She became nervous and started stuttering
about what a great and wonderful life I was going to have, how I was going to be successful, marry a handsome man,
have three children and live happily ever after. As young as I was I knew she was lying. I knew something she’d seen in
her crystal ball or while reading my palm had thrown her; made her uneasy. Finally just as I was about to stand up to
leave she grabbed my hand in a vice grip, leaned forward and whispered ominously; *Live everyday as if it is the last for
it may very well be. No apologies, no regrets. You‘ll never see thirty. * I snatched my hand from her and ran from the
dingy, dark tent and her doom and gloom fortune back outside in the bright sunlight to my father and my daddy. I was 12
years old when the fortuneteller told me I wouldn’t live to be thirty. I was so terrified that day and for days after. But the
more I thought about it thirty years seemed so old to my 12-year-old mind. Ah, the naivety of youth. After several days I
just forgot about the fortuneteller and all she‘d told me. When you’re that young death doesn’t seem real. Unfortunately
12 was the age I learned just how real death really was and how it would change my life forever, but I’ll get into that later.

The story is about Eve, who's Vic's daughter. She comes back to Pittsburgh to reunite with his dad, but also because she felt compelled to help Brian and Justin to get back together, as Justin is in his Ethan phase
Do you know who's written it and if there are other chapters?
Thank you
