getithere | Melanie chooses Brian as the father AU, Brian/Emmett & Brian/Ted friendships, and Emmett fics

I was wondering if I could ask if anyone can recommend fics that sort of fit these scenarios.

1. Instead of deciding to go with Michael, Melanie chooses Brian as the father. Maybe they form a better friendship along the way.

2. I checked through the tags a month ago, but I would like some good friendship stories between Brian and Emmett, preferably when Brian isn't doing all that well (post 2x22 or post 5x13 or possibly something bad happens to Justin) or maybe Emmett isn't doing so well and Brian is actually the one who takes initiative to spend time with him. I have found more of Brian and Ted, but I will also take stories of them in a similar scenario as well. RECS POSTED BELOW

3. Any fics tell about Emmett's backstory? We hear snippets of Aunt Lula and getting matches thrown at him in the locker room, but I would like something to center around Emmett and his past. It can be pre-series, in-series, or post. It would be great if the rest of the gang was in it and helped him out though. Rec by gaedhal below

Also, I am a huge Brian/Justin shipper so if they are the main or side couple in any of these fics, that is completely fine. Also, hurt/comfort and angst are also wonderful (and sadistic) things.

Unfortunately I don't have a fic to recommend. I just wanted to say that I would love to read a fic where Melanie chooses Brian as the father. It didn't make any sense to me that she chose Michael. I hope someone's written a fic like that and if not someone should.

Thank you! Yeah, I understand her relationship with Brian isn't the best, but he is the father of their first child and did help them out a lot financially and sign his parental rights over. If not Brian, I would think Ted would be her next choice. He and Mel seemed close throughout the series and they didn't know about his addiction problems when they chose Michael.

However, if there isn't a story like that out there I do have an idea for one. I have been writing original stuff for a while and haven't done fanfic in years. It may help my writers block.

Will do! :) I don't know if I checked the Ao3 Emmett tags or not. Sometimes I get discouraged on finding something not completely centered around Brian/Justin. Don't get me wrong, they are one of my favorite pairings of all time and my favorite on QAF plus I am usually searching for fics about them anyway.

However, they tend to dominate most searches of other characters because those other characters appear in B/J's grand love stories. Like I will search Emmett and get several one-shots about Brian/Justin and Emmett makes an appearance. I would love to find one where Emmett is the main character and Brian and/or Justin make an appearance.

You may have already found it in the tags, but for Brian-Em friendship, I always think of sapphire3's The Temptation of Snakes (http://sapphire-3.livejournal.com/17193.html#cutid1). Post-513, Brian develops an eating disorder, and Emmett goes with his friend to Canada to confront Lindsay over her part in it all (taking Gus away, making Justin leave, kinda ruining Brian's life). They have some really sweet scenes.

Yes, it is one of my favorites. I have read it a couple of times and it was one of the two stories that inspired that request. The other is one I can't find at the moment. It must be something I search for soon.

For #2, I really liked "Not Monogamous" by moonbrightnites. It's mainly a Brian/Emmett fic, but with B/J in the background ;)

No, I am pretty new to the fandom. I started watching the show in February, finished it in a little over a month. Then I moved back home after I graduated college and introduced it to my mom. So I am completely obsessed now.

When it comes to fanfic writing, I started with Harry Potter when I was really young (around 10 years old, oh I wish I could find it and judge it now) and then moved on to Supernatural and Veronica Mars. That was probably six or seven years ago though. I did write some for Sherlock but I never published it. I will message you when I start it and give you a heads up!

Maybe you've already read it, but "I Need a Lover That Won't Drive Me Crazy" by eleveninches, is also very good (and funny!).

It's more Ted/Emmett though, with Brian being the matchmaker (kind of).
