Justin has problems speaking post-bashing

What I remember is that after the bashing Justin has problems speaking and I think Mikey calls him stupid and Brian tells him he's still smart just can't put the words together.  I think Brian introduces him at Kinnetik as his partner and Justin says a few words to the employees??

It's not "Broken Angel" by Moonshadow Woman although that's what I was re-reading that got me thinking about this one.  Any help would be appreciated!
