I know it sounds odd, but I am a busy mother/housewife/part-time worker, so I have to listen to stories most of the time or I can forget my favorite past-time. If there is a will, there is a way.
My first e-reader was an Kindle. I loved it. It had the text to speech in the experiment mode. It was a little mechanical but I got used to it. The Fire doesn't have that option the last time I checked.
I have a Nook HD that now has a reader option. The voice is even more mechanical, but I've gotten used to it.
As I far as I know, you don't have the test to speech options for the Kindle app on iphones (I have one) or any other devices, but my husband said that sometimes your system could have a separate option for it.
Good Luck,
Sandra:)
PS: The Kindle Touch is relatively inexpensive right now and it has text-to-speech.
