I have a hard time reading them myself. A very hard time. It's partly because I cry at a drop of a hat. Seriously, it's almost a debilitating condition - my eyes start to water at ANYTHING remotely sad. Actually, even super happy, overly romantic bits get me going also, but at least those are happy tears. LOL. Yeah, my view is that Justin had a LOT of shit dumped on him in canon, so torturing him even more seems overkill. Therefore, I tend to stay away from fics such as the one you described. I will confess to reading many of them (and loving them) just to get a good cry after a bad day at work/fight with hubby/disagreement with mom/what-have-you. In this case, I think I'll stay away.
