He took a very public route, in paps land, he is a celeb, its fair game.
It's NOT fair game. This was during his private time. He doesn't have to live with it.

This whole paparazzi business is one huge disrespectful money machine. Sure, Gale has to suffer through a lot less than other celebs, still there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. Today's media, paps, fans with cameras and access to the internet, and fans commenting disrespectfully and misinterpreting pics dig into private space and never have to answer for this, due to the net's anonymity.

There are enough fame whores out there who inform the paps where they will show up, so they can get their pics. If someone repeatedly shows, that he doesn't wish to be treated this way, it is to be respected.
Pursuit got his picture at the airport a couple of months ago, now Gale knows his face and he knows how this pap business works. Clearly he's got his own reasons to not cooperate anymore. That doesn't make Gale a moody person. Just a human being.

No doubt that many of his fans are nuts (just go to IMDB to prove that), but thats nut the paps, is it? They didnt go to his step mom's funeral.

This isnt anything like that. Look, the WB studio has a massive multiplex on site, playing all the new releases. He wanted his privacy, he could have just gone on the lot to see the movie.

He went to a very public theater. He walked past where so many of the Vancouver paps hang out, this wasnt a sneak attack. His costars tweeted about the adventure, it wasnt clandestine.

The autograph sellers are annoying, but I really do not see how this was a huge intrusion of privacy and as many in Britt's camp have pointed out, the whole thing was suggested by the powers to be to get the cast out bonding on the town.

He is not doing avante garde theatre or some indie project. He is doing a huge teen show on the CW, which will get publicity whored like there is no tomorrow and he should be thrilled there will not be happy meal tie ins. This was his choice, and a very nice career, no pound of flesh.

Slight misunderstanding. I was, like the OP, talking about the last set of pics showing Gale after running some errands in front of the building he lives in, not those on the way to the movies. (I know nothing of the location, the usual pap hang out, private multiplexes on site, tweets from co-stars, as I'm too lazy to go through Twitter ;) - sorry.)

I agree, that his popularity will (hopefully) up, when TSC airs, and he will have to live with more public exposure, but still think that pics in front of his residence cross the line.

And I very much regret, that celebs today simply are expected to deal with sensation-seeking media or bloggers, that get away with so much, because the net is not controllable. Guess, when Gale started out, he would never have expected, that fans throughout the net would try PI like to measure his penis size and thousands of graphic pics would be handled and viewed 11 years down the road. I so get, why he acts like he acts.

His own realator goofed and put his home on the net and every fan got to see it, its the nature of the beast. Please note, many objecting over photos, were going gaga over seeing his home. They might try to be classy and rebuke that stuff here, but they were on their aliases on other sites swooning.

He lives in studio condos in vancouver. All the cw stars are put up in the same 3 buildings, unless they have their own place. The paps are there everyday and have been since smallville started a decade ago. They are also shuttled on the same plane hops back and forth to LA so stars can go home on the weekend. Its also pap central.

If he is going to play the game, he has to take the bad along with the good. He was in the same building for HC, he knows the situation, if it bothered him, he could have declined or chosen alternative housing. The fact that he signed on to all thiss, means he is playing the game.

He is on location filming, so it can be argued he is on the job. He is an agent of the show and studio while he is on the show, and press and paps are part of that. He seems fine with the media junket, so the uber fans can probably relax about the injustices he is being forced to suffer. Just enjoy, he seems to be.

Quite interesting how much you know about the pap business and the location in Vancouver. Almost like an insider. Most certainly not like an average fan.

What ever makes you happy to justify this slimy business. :)

Are you that paranoid?

Anyone who was or is in the Smallville or Supernatural fandom knows the inner workings of the Vancouver paps. The guys Tweet about it, they show clips on the CW Lounge about it, you would have to pretty slow not to know this stuff by now. Supernatural even worked it into an ep last year.

Funny how all the other stars on the lot can deal with it. Then again, I bet Gale deals just fine, its his nutty fans that make a big deal out of everything.

Sweetheart I live in Germany and give a s**t about SPN and Smallville. Don't have the time or interest to engage that much into fandom, Twitter etc. ;)

Please be very careful when making sweeping comments like "every fan". I'm a fan and I certainly did not see any pictures like the ones you are talking about nor was I going gaga over those photos...

Please don't lump sum people just because you have your own opinion and others seem to have one that vastly differ from yours.

I have not seen the photos in question, though I did hear about them. However, I don't think anyone no matter how famous or not should have to worry about people basically stalking them for a photograph or autograph. I don't believe anyone signed off their rights to privacy once they decided they wanted to act, write, paint, etc. I will never understand this mindset that those behaviors are okay and the people that it's happening to "should know better" or "learn to deal with it". I wouldn't want my work following me home, catching up to me at a coffee shop, the store, the movies and inquiring about what I'm doing, if I didn't mind doing work related things during my time off. (I love the work I do, but I don't want to tied to it 24/7.)

As far as him "enjoying it"....from the few photos I did see...he didn't seem to "enjoy it".

TL;DR. I disagree with many of your statements. You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. I just don't care to be lumped into broad statements like the ones you made in your first paragraph.

by enjoying it, I meant his career and the business, he's enjoying it much more than he ever has in the past. He knows how to be invisible, if he wants to be.

Ok, correction, 'every fan COULD see his home', because of his own real estate agents screw up.

Its not like Gale made a statement, pleading for help or damning anyone, I am just saying it wasnt a big deal.

Ipitydafool, you are very lucky with your job. I work for a large corporation, which I love, but we sign statements saying our behaviour in public, reflects the company, so we are always an on. If a client complains about our behaviour at a ballgame, off the clock, we can get fired. If a customer comes up to us at the park with our kids, we must see to their needs.

So, from my POV, Gale sure seems to have a sweet deal. In today's world, we are all at the mercy of privacy intrusion. He gets the big checks and pretty travel for his time. I see celebs as on call, to some degree. I would never ask for a photo or autograph, but for some, its important and its the fans only chance.

The other poster is right, SPN has made photogs around the city well known to fans. By doing it, they took a lot of the power away from them and have a whole lot more peace of mind, enough to even buy homes there. Surely Gale is as crafty as the other actors there, its a huge community, he lives in LA, right? Vancouver should be a breeze for him and he said he loved being there for Hellcats, so it couldnt have irked him too badly last year.

I always find it interesting anytime I see your name, there's countless other comments you could respond to, but you always choose mine. :) I suppose I should be flattered?

Yes, I worked for a major corporation that had many centers around the U.S. We had to sign those very same forms even going so far that if we were online and did anything that could be considered "bad" then we could potentially lose our position. However, I suppose I am lucky that when I have run into my "clients" in public they have always been courteous enough to say "hi", ask how I've been, and move on. They've never brought their problems to me except when I was at work. It seems maybe I live in a different place than most people that most respects another person's right to a more private life.

Maybe it's because I have a few friends that have been stalked by fans, hounded by people taking countless photos of them, finding out their phone numbers and posting them on public places that I feel those that make statements like "they need to learn to deal" I have a hard time adjusting to and I'm not limiting this to just Gale as it may have seemed in my previous comment, but to anyone.

That's what bothered me the most was the fact that there are people that think that sort of behavior is okay and I've never understood that mindset.

I have 2 b level famous friends and one of those friends is married to a famous author, and I have to tell you, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to pounds of flesh, from fans or the people that hound these people for time, or autographs, or pictures. If even 1/4 of the stories they tell me are true the world of stardom isn't as candy coated as you make it out to be.

I have a story about the Oscars two years ago that would put hair on your chest.

My friend couldn't leave his apartment for 2 days because 4 paps were stalking him.When he called the police they scattered but were back to their stalking as soon as the police left. He almost missed a lecture he was giving at Harvard because of it.

Gale has a right to a private life, he has a right to do a laundry run, and he has a right to leave confines of his studio and go have fun with new castmates.

So I guess we will have to disagree here.
